hi guys

i juz sent my car for 10k servicing at my PI warranty covering workshop.
after servicing, the manager said cannot update the service status due to outdated software.
hence i need to fork out $280 to update the software, then can update service status.

is this the norm ar?

my f10 520i bought in dec 2011.

thanks :)

i don' think so.
even if software is an old one, its just resetting it to "already serviced" status.
dun tell me old software can't even work properly.

updated servicing status VS software update are 2 separate issues.
and even if its like what u say, software problem......shouldn't it be a warranty issue?
how can a 200k+ car have its servicing status not be updated due to software issue.
if it was pml, ppl go bang table liao.

just my 2 cents

if its $50, i save time and close eyes lah
but $280 abit ouch..

Re: f10 software update after servicing

I think is kinda fishy for the workshop to charge that much
I serviced my car at Boss previously at 5k km and they reset the service status easily.
total service was less than what quoted by your workshop

$280 was juz for updating software, separate from servicing costs

I wonder if software is under warranty......

Re: f10 software update after servicing

Even if software needs updating, surely it won't cost S$280! Can you get a pirated version from JB?

Re: f10 software update after servicing

Mine is a PI car and I just went to Technic this morning for the software upgrade and paying $250. Was told upgrading software not cover under normal warranty... unlike AD which they covered software upgrade..

However, please take note and this is not related to your service reset. There is a problem on the aircon control after the software upgrade.. Normally, when you've pressed on the 'ALL' button. the left side aircon settings will follow the adjustment being made from the 'RIGHT' side.. But now, the control for both setting have changed to 'LEFT' side instead.... kind of weird.. The software version is from Nov 2011 release (i cannot remember the exact version number).

I was offered to do another software upgrade again to a newer version in May. Hopefully, this time I don't have to fork out another $250 to resolve this issue.

I am wondering if it could be because they loaded a software meant for LHD.

May i ask what is the purpose of a software upgrade? Do you have any problems with the previous version. I was advised not to do any upgrade unless you have any specific problems.

Re: f10 software update after servicing

That's my thought too.. But, they said this version is for RHD and some other F10 owners did not complain about this issue after the upgrade.

I upgraded the software due to the lower gear pressure too high and noticeable jerky during low speed. This is a very common complain for F10... This software upgrade come as a package so other related modules were upgraded too. I am waiting the car to run in for few days and see if the gear problem is resolved or not.

Re: f10 software update after servicing

hi guys

wanna share a GOOD ending to my story...

Was about to LL go back my servicing workshop and fork out $200plus for the software update so that they can "reset" the service status. But decided to check with Mr david from Auto Technik.

Being an experienced, professional and benevolent gentleman, he assisted me to reset my service status. Wham Bam, no service update what-so-ever, 15 minutes, done!

HE is THE MAN. David from auto-technik.

surely will be keen to patronised his products and services in future.
heard that his BILSTEIN B12 PROKIT for F10 coming soon

cheers
:)

Re: f10 software update after servicing
