F10 520i Sunshade (Sun visor) connector Foam cover

Hello,
I removed my driver side sun shade and the foam cover for the wire connection (in picture) just broke apart and can’t be put back on. Does anybody know what this is for? Can you buy them anywhere or should I just put electrical tape over it to protect the connection?
