Hello everyone,
Good day.
Need some advise on my 528i .
Each time when i stop my car in the carpark and idle the engine for a while , waiting for my kids , the engine will roar in a very loud noise after like 5 to 8 minutes of idling. Its so loud if its in the basement carpark , i can almost literally feels that the car is going to explore in front . The aircon is on and its a new compressor...anyone encounter this scenario before ?
TIA

Its just the sound of the aux fan kicking on to cool the car down. Meow at it see if it helps

Its the radiator fan spinning fast to cool the engine. If it happens very often or even at cool day, its not normal. High chance the thermostat is the culprit.

I will turn off my engine if I am stopping for more than 5 min. It’s the economical and considerate thing to do.

Thank alls for the advise , yea . I hope its normal, its really loud

turn off your engine problem solved. Also

Idling engines
Under the Environmental Protection and Management (Vehicular Emissions) Regulations, it is an offence for the driver of a motor vehicle to leave the engine of a vehicle idling while it is stationary, for reasons other than traffic conditions. The rationale is to minimise pollution. It will in turn reduce fuel wastage. Exceptions allowed include vehicles where the engine is needed to be running for operation of on-board equipment (e.g. refrigerated trucks), moving vehicles in a queue, vehicles undergoing inspection or repair and enforcement/emergency vehicles. Owners who leave their vehicle engines idling can be fined up to $2,000 for the first offence and $5,000 for subsequent offences, if convicted in court.

Thanks for the input again. I am just bother by the sound , it’s really loud and , Yes thanks for NEA information.

You have any mods done? Piggy-back, ECU tuning? If not done properly or wrong tuning, will cause this to happen (personal experience). Yes, it is very loud (its like fan at 200% speed)
