Exhaust Tips

Have done it on my old car for cosmetic look only. And have passed LTA inspection as long as it is just cosmetic. Unless your exhaust tip look as large as a milo-tin can, it should not attract unwarranted attention.

I change my tip to a dual-tip type (tips only, no change in muffler box also). When i send to STA for inspection, the guy told me that only those screwed-on type are allowed. As long as there are welding works done, it is not allowed. However, he told me that he will still give me a 'pass' but indicated 'recommeded to change back to original' in the remarks column. Guess he was in a good mood that day. :)

go to fong kim exhaust... they got a range of sizes and styles to suit almost any liking...
i got my stock ripped off and welded a pair of new tips on... no worries with LTA!!!

Just some questions on the welded type of exhaust tips.

Why doesn't LTA permit such operations. Is there a particular reason, i.e safety, etc.?

Changed my tip to twins recently which was operated (welded), not the bolt-ons, kind worried that it might be a hazard.

Don't know why? But somehow, got this paranoia that if it was not done propoerly, it might cause exhaust fumes to go right into the aircondition thus causing carbon monoxide poisoning.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but this is my concern.

Can anybody advice or at least put my mind at rest. Esp from the mechanically sound dude. Thanks gents!

your aircon intake is right in front of your front windscreen. your exhaust tip is right at the bottom of your rear bumper. you'd have a higher chance getting yourself killed from the guy's exhaust gases in front of you than from your own.

so if you see a car swerving wildly in your rear view mirror and then crashing out, go and surrender yourself.

HAHAHHHAHA! Very subtle way of putting it racebred. Feel much better now.

U See, told you i was ignorant and not mechanically sound...Mayb i shld start taking a crash course on the schematics of a automobile. Damn silly me, why didnt i think of tat.

I guess my psycological thots on getting posioned by carbon monoxide fumes everytime i'm driving in the car has been eliminated. Myth cleared. Phew!!!

Not shitting u hey. Been suffering for the past few weeks man. Keep on thinking tat how come feeling so sleepy. Heard ages ago, tat ppl haf known to have died of monoxide posioning after bonking and snoozing in their rides.

HAUhauhUHUAHUAHUHAU...it's all good now! But if i ever perish fr monoxide posioning, swear I'm gonna haunt u wif mufflers and pipes dude!
HAUHAUAHUAHUAHUA!!!
