hi guys,
here's a guide for those who want to get their exhaust "certified by STA". hope it gives better understanding of a supposedly simple process which takes less than 15 mins. A word of warning though...be patient and dont expect any niceness/smiles/pleasant customer service. the 4 million smiles campaign obviously didnt reach them in time.
here goes>> went down to STA to get the exhaust inspected for change of ownership...supposed to be a simple process but it was not to be...
1st asked to produce 4 documents - letter of request to state you want inspection, authorisation letter (if you're not the owner), vehicle log card and exhaust cert.
ok all things gathered, proceeded into the inspection lane...WTF the humps/bumps in the lane were like designed for off-roading?!?!!? though not huge they were quite a test for a car on lowered springs...quite un-nerving actually..
Next, the guy proceeded to use a digicam to take a whole array of pictures of the car, some of which i couldnt understand the purpose...even asked me to open engine bay and took MORE pictures...i dont get the reason for this though...at this time i was asked to make payment.
went to pay $52.50 at counter and left the car to the guy for 2nd half. next thing i knew they said CANNOT PASS. Reason? muffler is welded on and not attached by brackets...dont see what's the difference but was told NOT to argue...and as the place reminded me of army camp and the guys resembled sergeants who like to "tekkan" you with a smirk on their faces..cant help it i guess...their job gives them "power"...in fact, each time they told me something it sounded like an order from a superior, not advice to a customer! if any of you is into Submission, do give these guys a go... =)
anyway looks like i have to re-inspect next week...any suggestions/comments?
