exhaust for e93 335i

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

The exhausts are working, just that at idling, 1 will be working only as the resonator flap has closed off 1 side. The golf tee mod is to permanently open the flap so that the exhaust sounds louder. And when u do a cold start, the car is louder as the revs start off at 1.1k rpm and slowly lowers to 650rpm.

Cheers!

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

Right side will be working during the cold start, the left side will only open at higher RPMs, that's where the resonator flap is. U just have to look before and u can see a black tube going into the muffler box. Remove and clamp it. The reason for calling it the Golf tee mod is cuz pple use a golf tee to plug the hose.

Cheers!

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

Funny, but the golf tee mod cured my urgency for a new exhaust. I'm happy with the result.....for now :D

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

Stefan, what benefits do you get from the mod? louder or performance? :)

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

its just louder :) It permanently opens the resonator flap so you can exhaust gases coming out from both exhausts!

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

Better read the US e90 thread in detail. I won't do this mod after reading thru.

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

If you use a ball bearing, it should be O.K. Don't disconnect the plug...that's bad.

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

The ball bearing size should be 7/32 inch or 5.556mm, or am I wrong.
What is the size of the bb that you used ?

Re: exhaust for e93 335i

I used a 4mm ball and it's fine...easy to take out if you want to reverse the mod.
