The pay-as-you-use system was described by judges as “clever” for the way it maximises the capacity of the road network and shapes motorist behaviour.

SINGAPORE: The Republic’s Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system has been named among the world’s top infrastructure developments and credited with making Singapore one of the least congested major cities in the world.

The Infrastructure 100: World Markets Report by KPMG International, released on Monday (Dec 1), hailed Singapore’s pay-as-you-use system as a model for countries grappling with growing urban populations and limited physical space.

The assessment came from a panel of independent industry experts who had evaluated over 400 projects. The ERP system was described by judges as “clever” for the way it maximises the capacity of the road network and shapes motorist behaviour with tolls that vary according to traffic flows and are controlled in real time from an operations centre.

Several other ASEAN projects were highlighted such as Myanmar’s new communications network and Cambodia’s Hak Se Mill Biomass Gasification. Indonesia’s upcoming second line for its Mass Rapid Transit system in Jakarta also made the list for the way it is designed to improve urban mobility.

I have to qualms about the ERP.

Wish they write something about the COE? They will probably starts with The COE system was describe by judges as "clever” for the way it maximises income for government coffers and shapes motorist behaviour to entitlement.

Afterall LKY did say, whats wrong about getting more money with COE... now there's the real intent

Everyday rob people.

KPMG should assess SMRT in the same report and rank it.

Actually, it's not a bad idea to swap the CEO/COO of ERP against that from SMRT.

Win-win for the people no matter what.
