The Land Transport Authority today announced that the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates for four gantries will go up based on its quarterly review of traffic conditions.

According to a statement released today, going through 4 gantries at the Southbound CTE after Braddell Road & PIE Slip Road into Southbound CTE between 8.30 to 9 am will cost $6 from Monday, Nov 4.

This is a $1 increase from the current rate of $5.

The rates for the other gantries will remain unchanged.

The next ERP review will take place in November 2013 for the December school holiday period.

ERP rates at 4 gantries to be $6 from Nov

Learned master taught me that mistakes made in the past can't be undone, so for the sake of free flowing traffic, we gotta live with it and pay like a Man.

But it's a different story when we get stuck in back to back traffic just after the IU beeps. Sometime I really wonder if the real cause of Singapore's low birth rate is because the ERP gantries are frying the male drivers' bros when they are stuck in jams under the gantry...

CTE free flow, 5 other roads get clogged. Up the price of 5 other roads, CTE gets clogged again....so up CTE charge once more...and the cycle continues.

Maybe it's ok to buy a BMW from Iskandar - ERP flat rate and no COE. Servicing is done in JB......

$30 per day per use until 5pm. 10 business days and weekends free.

Re: ERP rates at 4 gantries to be $6 from Nov

$5/$6 should be the new norm where driver feel the pinch compare to those $1 ERP gantry where the sole purpose in my opinion is to collect $$

Re: ERP rates at 4 gantries to be $6 from Nov

It should be $25-30 for peak hours....then u see the effect n true purpose of ERP.

Heng I never kenna any everyday....

Devil's advocate: pick one

(1) restricts car ownerships via COE pricing

Or

(2) restricts car ownerships via allocation - example one house (2 pax) one car

Or

(2) use region-based road consumption tax to control traffic volume ?

(1). The COE in principle is a good system. Drive only when you can afford it; driving a car is luxury, not an Entitlement nor a public good (unlike taxis, buses and trains), and it should always be as such. It was only the bad management of the COE system in the past that created the mess we have today plus the knee-jerk reaction to use ERP as a means of damage control.
