The Government has defended the upcoming changes to the Certificate of Entitlement system, saying the use of engine power to differentiate mass market cars from luxury models allows for better rule enforcement and compliance.

Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew (above) said on Friday: "We have chosen something which I believe is more simple, more stable, easier and more straightforward to implement and to police."

Beh kan is beh kan

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

the reason why they going to implement this in feb is to collect more $$$$ for a few more mths.
who benefits from high coe? definitely not car buyers and commmercial vehicles. its none other than LTA.
perhaps they can use this revenue for charity?

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

garmen quite funny worrying about people who aspire brand new cars when they could easily get 2nd hand ones with steep discounts... more or less horsepower will still put a car on the road....

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

LTA should be happy ... kaypoh kaypoh 40% 80% ARF ... more $$$

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

Typical response: defensive. They have done this through all these years for other unpopular policies. The killer is not just the COE. It's the 150-180% ARF.

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

No, my friend, the killer is the 60.1 that keeps voting stupidity in.

Re: Engine power 'better way to classify cars'

If he go in then the 60.1 must vote him to be effective ..... Or if he knew the 60.1 will vote for him then he will enter ....... Or he will not get up from the durian shells until he is voted ?
