Engine oil warning light! Can anyone advise pls?

The warning light for the engine oil lit up yesterday after I shut down my engine - saying that the oil levels was at the minimum.

This is strange as the car was just serviced and topped up with engine oil about 4k km ago. Not due for change for quite a while. Checked and there's no leakage.

Anyone has the same experience? Is it a sensor problem?

Thanks.

No way to ascertain cos the engine has no dip stick.

The only way to test is to drain out the oil and physically drain out the oil and measure the volume. if the volume does not match the i-drive reading, Sensor kaput..

The only slight drawback is that once the oil is out you should be changing it cos no idea how dirty is the collecting pan.

Anyway it is common for engines to comsume oil at a rate of 1L per 5000-7000km. If you drive very hard (always at 5-6K rpm) you can expect to top up 1L after 3000km.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for their inputs! The warning light does not come on everytime now - maybe about twice for every 5 times I drive... Have already made an appointment with PML on Monday morning. Since car i still under warranty - better get them to look at it!!

Wish me luck:roll:
