Engine oil on BMW 318i?

Super noob question alert!

I am going to DIY engine oil refill into my BMW 318i. Is Mobil 5W 50 suitable?

I have just bought Mobil 5W 50 but it says BMW Diesel High Performance Oil. What does that mean? Is it suitable for a petrol BMW 318i or do I need to get another make?

http://www.mobil1.com.sg/products/product_5w50.aspx Here is the product spec. It has a builder approval from BMW High Performance Diesel Oil but nowhere else it mentioned that it's for Diesel vehicles only. Hence, confused.
