Engine Dies off after Traffic Jam and Hunting RPM

Dear all,

pertaining to the above problem, I seek some advise what could have happen.

was at custom jamming then suddenly my RPM starts hunting, Off the aircon its ok... suddenly with aircon off it starts hunting again then its just stalled.... try cranking cannot start. Try crank with leg depressing on accelerator it starts but when i let go it dies.... crank again and keep the accelerator on and half clutch (mine is a manual) to the junction and turn out of the queue.... the car dies.... rested awhile and crank the car vibrates like shit and black smoke from my exos, step on gas it goes up and die after coming down. basically cannot step on gas.... whats happening here need some good advise...

big shit... did the ica people ask you why stall?

okay, ot abit, this happened like last year, friends car was low on fuel, stalled on the bridge to the causeway. in 10 mins the ica people came down, ask him whats the problem with his car. they tried to start for him, then can start after they tried.

Was given a verbal warning on the fuel level prescribed by the ica.

Really blur fella.

check the icv, fuel pressure regulator, air-flow meter......anything related to the fuel or air intake systems

Tats normal wear & tear la...... just get ur regular mechanic to give it a check...
shld not be a big problem.....

PAL. dun need to let us noes yrs is MANNUAL...everyone in the forum noes.....n i dun tink sg onli got one MANNUAL GEARBOX.......but yrs is CONFRIM PROBLEM MANNUAL GEARBOX.......maybe u can swap wit AUTO n TOP UP money n u pay for both labour ..........i tink this the best way i can help u...........

check ur ICV, most 318is suffer from a dirty idle control valve which throws the idling off, giv it a check and get it cleaned anyway

maybe check ur hoses see if there are any leaks?

You're likely to get the same parts/service for less $.
Especially since your ride is way out of warranty anyway.

the ICV is really sensitive leh... i sent to workshop but also want to get some advise here so that they wont tear up my car to find out what happen. Seems like either no petrol going in or no air going into the combustion chamber. Black smoke is incomplete combustion rite? I dunno juz guessing lah....

panzer, go get your airflow meter checked out, maybe need some cleaning.
did your car blow black smoke and was like surging on n off or vibrating like siao??
or engine totally cannot start now?
