Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

just installed my quad eisenmann race exhaust today (thanks Barry!) on my e92 335

the roar from the exhaust has created a rattle which is coming from the storage compartment between my rear seats

we tracked the noise down to the sliding cover and figured out if pressure is applied to keep the sliding cover open to its max there is no rattle

dont really want to rip out the whole tray so i can remove the sliding cover nor do I want to use some sticky tape to maintain the pressure (that would be to ghetto)

any ideas?

Sorry to hear about the problem.. How're the KW V2's handling?

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

hey jase - feels good. keeping the settings bvo suggested for the time being until my full body kit etc are all in place... thanks for hooking me up!

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

That's a common problem which I faced as well.

Just stuff a tennis ball or some rags into the tray before closing it and that'll reduce the rattle. Has to be stuffed tight though.

Alternatively, you can line the edge of the slider with felt. I've tried both and am quite happy with the felt solution. Btw, it's quite easy to remove the tray - just lift up and pull out firmly.

Another option is to remove the sliding cover completely.

Good luck!

I think its quite a common problem amongst Eisenmann exhausts...

I feel it kinda gives the Eisenmann its "flavour"...

Hor Bobby?

Kuvesh,

Even Milteks have that. Not really an issue. I just stuff styrofoam pellets inside and its gone.

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

Yo Kuvesh, just curious coz I've an erace'd 6er....when does the rattle start? Is it constant or only after a long drive so it's kinda an intermittent rattling issue?

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

try removing the exos? it shud work.

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

i face the same problem though is different parts and different exhaust.

my back seat belt buckle is virbrating against another piece of plastic.
irritating, have to adjust it to the top position everytime.

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

thanks all - problem solved for the time being

packed the tray to the max with some old socks (yes they were clean)

not as elegant as the felt lining but will do for the time being.

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

Ehhh..
OT a little.

Is eisenmann compliant already? Not yet right...

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

well kuvesh, i guess the socks worked cos i didn't hear any rattle, only the fierce roar everytime u step on the accelerator today....at least u changed my mind abt eissenman again. tot eissenman sounded kinda hollow on bobby's 6er but yours is just fine....with a growl of cos....niceeeee

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

Wha Steven u like that say...
Make me very tempted to get Eisenmann leh...

Still not compliant leh.

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

take remus then...legal and confirm cheaper than eissenman....anyway, i dunno anyone got eissenman on E46....maybe you should try asking around.

Re: Eisenmann Race causing rattle from back seat tray

Eisenmann will not sound hollow....Mine growls and screams, but never hollow. Must be Bobby special...LOL.
