Eh..are these oil filters?

Looks like a 7 series Engine Oil filter. Quite big from the photos.

3 series engine oil filters is about the length of your ballpoint pen.

Where can I get the oil filter guts?
This is BMW part #11-42-1-716-192, "Oil Filter Insert". This costs $10 at my BMW dealer, maybe you can find a cheaper place on-line. This part comes in a bag, or a box, that includes the following:
Oil filter insert
Force fits into the filter interior. Look how the old one fits when you take it out.
(3) O-rings, one big one, two little ones
The large O-ring fits in a groove near the threads, the little O-rings fit onto the cartridge stem.
(1) copper washer
This replaces the washer on the oil pan bolt.

According to the part number on the plastic 11 42 1 716 192, it's a filter for your 318i.

Can be used for the E36 316, 318 and the pre-FL E46 only..... Sigh, i was trying to pinch it from u :hmmidont: :hmmidont:
