E93 roof water seepage

Has anyone here faced strain of water running down the inner side of the passenger windows after car wash or under the rain? :( Notice from overseas forum that it is kind of common on the E93. My brand new convertible is still having the leakage problem despite having sent to PML several times. Thanks in advance for sharing...

Re: E93 roof water seepage

have the same problem, only pml alexandra has the tool to alignment the window but will go back after a few month...need 2 days to do it ... bang table told the cs that i paid 215k for this type of car, then they gave courtesy car with free petrol.... go back and ask them to fix the window alignment.

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Rain no but car wash yes cos i spray with lots of water!
Just live with it, its not a big issue

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Petrol station yes because they spray at the joints. Home no because residents not allowed to use hose to wash car. Rain no.

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Thks Cabrio_ken, ED520 and Whiskyrum for sharing.

ED520, cannot live with it leh..

My case, the seepage occurs everytime it is under rain and/or hand wash using water from pail. If you don't clean it, the water stain turns white, what an eye sore!

Pml has adjusted 3 times and each time, they returned the car without solving the problem , my car is still at their workshop now (4th time) for more than a month already. Got a courtesy car from them....but problem resolution is nowhere insight...

same as mine.

Only at petrol kiosk's car wash when water is sometimes sprayed at the joints.

Re: E93 roof water seepage

hmmm....interesting leh....let me kaypoh kaypoh a bit...email me pics i go study on it....maybe come up with a solution

Re: E93 roof water seepage

My scenario:

1. Car wash: Yes sometime.
Depending on the pressure spray jet angle blown towards my car.

2. Rain: Never even heay rain.

3. Self handwash: Never leaked

Hope that help.

:)

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Oh dear - mebbe i should change my order back to the coupe. My MX5 no such problems le and cost less than half the price. How come like that ah???

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Even my coupe sometimes has that problem. You have to realise that it is glass on rubber seams that is protecting the water from coming in. Spraying high pressure water on the joints will force the rubber seam inwards letting water come in. Its not a big deal really as long as rain it doesnt come in. I believe this is quite common for many cars. Yes the MX5 is less than half the price of the BMW but if you were to get laid in just 1 day by a woman you are dating, which car will you choose? :)

I used to get that on my softtop. But only when i wash the car and spray water at the top of the window (where the glass meets the rubber door seal).

When it rains, ther is a rain channel on my roof that basically makes most of the rain water flow off towards the back of the roof rather than down the side windows. so unless rain is beating down on the window sideways (so far never happen), no problem. Do the E92/93s not have that rain channel on the roof?

Anyway my solution is to use flowing water from the hose to rinse soap off the windows during car wash, rather than pressured water flow.

i also treat all rubber seals with 1z einszett gummi pflege rubber seal protection. I've also used Zymol Seal (your cabin will have coconut smell, but girls seem to like => advantage Zymol?). Both are good, but the 1z stuff got UV protection too. No more water seepage even when washing car.

Re: E93 roof water seepage

What is RTV auto silicon ? silicon seal or a can of spray ?
Steven, where can I get it ?
Thanks.

Re: E93 roof water seepage

its just a toothpaste kinda silicon tube....can find at alot of hardware shop but prob is u need to observe your car roof folding and see where it should n can be applied.
u will need some experience doing that too or else it will turn up messy...haha

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Then must buy silicon toothbrush to apply too ha...ha....
coming back to the seepage, between the two glass panels, I think it will be difficult to apply this paste.

hmmmm.....have u guys tried RTV auto silicon on the seams....run a little on the seams, it should work

is it ok to use silicon on rubber? all those car care companies make big fuss how their rubber care got no silicon etc... i thought silicon no good.

Re: E93 roof water seepage

My ride is like atap house, heavy rain, water will start dripping in on the driver's side, where the roof joins the windscreen. haha, was i amazed or wat! So when it rains, i cannot drive out, top up or down, no diff! haha..

Re: E93 roof water seepage

Try changing the rubber seals? From what I know, convertibles more or less will hv some water leakage/seepage. Due to rubber hardening over time and alignment of the roof with frequent open/close.
