Is a little form of jerkiness (not very serious jerkiness, but not that smooth either) when closing the roof normal?

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

I think you ... err ... are fortunate.

Several of my E93 friends have stuck roofs, cannot close window, have to leave the car OPEN in the apartment parking etc.

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

How bad is yr friends' car ?

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

bad, after 6 months of ownership, 1 of them never solve yet after going into the workshop so many times until give up, the other one still trying his luck.

the one who gave up just took it as if he bought an E92 ... :)

is it that bad this convetible top? I was almost sucked into it.
my sampling is about 5, of which 2 of them in close contact. so it is not an accurate sampling. best is do a google for this problem. `E93 roof sux'

But Karmann took a decade to perfect the art, with the early SLK sucking so bad. Karmann makes the SLK.

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

mmm so will all those e93 with "sux" rooftops be wholely replaced with a properly functioning one or newer/better one from Kamann?

Damn, cant imagine it starts to pour n the roof cannot close properly.

I think BMW wanted to make the roof mechanism by themselves.

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

then I better do regular maintenance on the roof mechanism. Next servicing, will ask CSO on this problem. Touch wood, so far peaceful.

your best bet is actually to use it often, like once every 2 days or so, just to keep it working.

If you don't use it it will rot.

so far so good. i try to drive with top down at night. just wondering wat one shd do when it gets stuck half way during operation...

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

I have the module already, just waiting to put it on my ride which will be arriving soon, *fingers crossed* Will post more FR when I try it out.

Re: E93 Roof Mechanism

So far i manage to get PML to repair and replace some parts in my convertible roof. Had a slight problem but now it works perfectly (touch wood) . PML did a great job. Maybe next time if u have a problem go to Kampong Arang and ask for "RAM" service engineer. He knows the situation and had it solve. Phew...... So far so good.
Thats why i think especially the convertibles is always good to go back to PML for regular service. They will do a thorough check on yr car and u can sleep well.
Yes i do open my top quite regularly which might play a part.
