Hi Guys,

Its been a while since i last came into this forum.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, I am about to place my deposit for the E90 professional version of 320. And i thot i will come in and have a look to see what people has to say about this car. Surprisingly, there sin't seems to be much mentioned about it here.

1) Anyone with any comments. at about 129k, is the car worth its salt?
2) What is the FC like?
3) Are there any predominant problem anyone has been experiencing with this car?
4) Anything in particular i shoud consider? or anything i should know.

Some speedy replies if you see this thread would be good. Coz D-day is in 3 hours time, and if there is anything, i can still pull the plug!

thanks in advance

Re: E90 New Purchase

Wow, The FC worsen so much from the previous E46?

I remember my brother's E46 used to clock about 11km / litre.

One thing. Is the E90 a valtronic engine as well? does it run on 95 or 98 octane?

thanks Yapster for your words....

I'm driving a Civic now. Previously an Audi... due to some resource reallocation a few years back, my wife and I decide to cut back on spending on transport.

Re: E90 New Purchase

is 323i out of reach for you? perhaps can consider...
in-line 6...

98 octane...

Re: E90 New Purchase

within reach, but i don't wanna kill myself....

98 oct.. thanks for that bit of info...

seems that not a lot of people like that car in this forum :)

Re: E90 New Purchase

congrats on the new ride. you will love it as much. should feel better than your civic stock vs stock comparison.

1) with package you getting on this cars, I'll say its worth it.
2) My FC its 9.3KM/L (reading as off to date), I'm on 19' staggered. If you keep it stock, it should be fine.
3) Not I experience so far.
4) Standard procedure I guess, inspect the car to the max you could.

Cheers!

Re: E90 New Purchase

yea stock for stock...it is worlds apart... :)

Re: E90 New Purchase

The car is great to drive...
If you drive up to KL often, the car hugs to the road.. and at the end of the trip, you dont feel tired.
Only issue i have is with the gearbox.... (if your planning to drive it in Sepang) Cant select the correct gear when i drive it in there.. but maybe i need more time getting used to it...
tyres are noisy cos they are the run flats...

Not too familiar with petrol branding here but 98=8000?

IN that case, you DONT need 98 octane in your car. 92 Octane will work as well, AND it will provide better mileage (Or so I recall reading somewhere).

Re: E90 New Purchase

thanks guys,

Never been a guy who mod cars... hanging around here... i hope that won't change.

been looking forward to going back to a german car. Was eyeing on the C class, but it is priced too expensive, and my wife thinks its an old man car. I must say that the C class looks nice though.

320 is probably a compromise between us. I like the lemon colouor leathers, while she prefers the black leather for easy maintenance. I like Blue, but she prefers silver... we we compromise again.. and will probably be getting a silver car with blakc leather :juggle:

I am not so concern about FC, as we do not drive that much.. maybe 600km per fortnight.... so i guess the running cost should be about $60 a week.

however, what may concerns me are things like reliability of the car, and the service i may receive in getting stuff fixed. These things cause major pain and major unhappiness.

thanks guys, for all feedback... keep it coming.... 1 more hour to go!

If you're one stock owner like you state, you should not had to worried too much on the german designed & engineered with African quality made car. it should be in good hand. regular oil change, with your mileage states above, I doubt you'll hit the suggested service mileage given a years period.

By now should time up, sit back and enjoy the cruise.:)

Yep... time's up... now is the count down time.. 10 days to go. heh heh....

a little feedback though. I screwed by the sales man a little bit... didn't affect my decision, but could have left with a bigger smile.

I had an existing offer for my current ride for $45k, he told me he will be able to match it. No issue. When I went to sign the deal, he gave me a price of $43k. he told me he couldn't get anyone to buy it at $45k. It's not a big deal, but he should have been upfront with me, and not entice me to go all the way down.

Anyway, good thing i seriously have a $45k offer, and that buyer was willing to take the car from me despite the fact i didn't buy the car from him.

I was not angry or anything, since the sales person was willing to do all the logistic for me. But i guess it could have been done better.

my 2 cents worth.... now i can start counting....10...........

I know for a fact the double Vano engines works well with 92 oct.

I remember that the valtronic needs 98 oct minimum. But i am wondering... in Malaysia, where the highest octane petrol is only 97, how does their E90 function there? hmmmmm....

Your wife prefers silver (to your blue) and she also prefers black leather (to your lemon). And you will be settling for a silver car with black leather. A 'compromise' indeed! :laughlik:

For a true German-made car, did you not consider going back to Audi? If so, why not? Just curious .....

The A3 1.8TFSI SportsBack (160 BHP) now selling at $116+K is value for money, IMHO.

Yah.. Compromise... ha ha...

well, i guess We didn't have a very good Audi experience during the time we had one. First of all, the service center is way too out of the way for us. And there are niggering faults in the car that the dealer just cannot fixed.

In addition to that, I got my Audi at a $30k discount (don't ask me how i did it), i drove out thinking that i won't lose money on such a bargain. I sold the car after 3 years, and lost $32 for 2.5 years of use. If i had paid the full price, I would have lost more than $20k a year.

Audi cars are pretty good, and the fitting is so far one of the best, if not the best i have seen.... but the resale value just can't make it.

Owning cars in Singapore is dumb.... buying a BMer is probably dumber.. but buying an Audi definitely tops the class.

my 2 cents worth

Re: E90 New Purchase

Bro i thought $32k for 2.5 yrs sounds very reasonable isnt it? That is like $12.8k per annum....
