E90 moving with constant speed even without Accelerate pedal

Hi Bros,

Recently I started to notice my E90 is moving with constant speed with fuel consumption gauge showing 3km/l even without depressing the acceleration pedal.

I have to brake in advance and it is harder to bring the car to a stop at traffic lights...

Need advice from brothers out there whether it is norm or there is something wrong with the car.

What is the "constant" speed you talking about? how many km/hr?

I have to brake in advance and it is harder to bring the car to a stop at traffic lights...

Again what speed are you traveling before you reach traffic lights?

20km/h cruising without accelerate pedal.... is it normal? the frustrating part is, it only happens at random interval..

That's NOT normal! better go have it checked...

Usually auto cars will move/roll at ard 3-5km/hr even without depressing the accelerator but not at 20km/hr!

Just to check does your ride have auto cruise function?

idling too high....dunno abt cars, but i remember having to adjust my bike idling during my army days if that was too high...how many rpms are u having when your ride is at idling?

maybe your drive-by-wire sensor is faulty intermittently. Better get it checked. If during this time, in between now and the time you get it fixed, you encounter another of this occurance but need to brake urgently, shift to neutral and brake.

also, to test, if you are cruising at 20kmh and it happens again, if road is safe, shift to neutral and see where the rpm is settling in at.

sometimes i play daytona the old machines also like that hehe

I suspect yr sensor not working well, as such hi-tech cars like BMW E90 has so many sensors.
the sensor that helps cold starting, when it allows more fuel/air mixture to come (in older cars we call it choker) hence the higher rpm, which propels yr car after yr inertia move...at 20kph at most. hv it checked by yr regular mechanic, or go to J4C or BVO like some said.
nothing to worry, except that you loose a few moolas lor

my initial 2 cts are idling is irregular due to your airflow.....most likely a nutty MAF sensor or something....does your car feel like chiong-ing forward even if u have stepped on the brake?u can try asking Bro Felix to ask his mechanics take a look at your ride if u still have doubts since he's already helping u out on this thread.keep us updated....all this sharing would greatly benefits the fellow newbie bros who have been joining our forum lately

Apology for the late respond back, being quite busy recently...

Since the ride is still under PML warranty, i will push into PML for checks. Will keep you guys updated....Cheers!
