e90 lowering options: springs only?

hi guys...
wondering if anyone can advise the above for my e90 320? I think the suspension performance is sufficient with stock setup but i'm interested to try lowering for cosmetic & slight handling improvement. I dont do track often or need that stiff sports suspension either...

I'm actually looking to just do a 15mm drop, it will look just nice and I dont have to worry too much about comfort compromised & scraping humps if I go for the 30mm drop. Because I do intend to stick to runflats so I dont have to change tires when it rains hehe.

So... I'm currently looking at these options from PML, but not sure if they are suitable...
1. AC springs only - 15-30mm drop. cheapest but bad for shocks?
2. Eibach springs? - 15mm drop. same as 1?
3. AC springs & shocks - 15-30mm drop, more ex sports suspension
4. M sports - expensive but only drops 15mm?

Appreciate any advice ;)

15mm drop? almost can see any diff though.

Check my post "E90 + 19" BBS CK Rims". Look at pics towards end of the thread. Thats like a 3 finger spacing drop using Eibach springs. A lot of hia-dee hia-buay here also did that, including myself as adviced.

Re: e90 lowering options: springs only?

IMO, changing springs only is fine unless you're gonna keep the car for like more than 10 yrs.

according to eibach website, the lowering springs are rated to suit the shocks so additional wear is minimal. of course they could be lying lah

ah beng,

Do you have any problem with scraping hump or having to avoid kurb when parking after lowering your ride?

Re: e90 lowering options: springs only?

I changed mine to Eibach and it is really quite comfortable, only slightly worse than stock. The car dropped from 4 fingers in front and 3 fingers in back to about 2 fingers in front and about 1.5 behind (using 18 " BBS rims). So far it clears all humps except my own car park where there is a rather high hump at the top of a steep slope so if I reach the top too fast it will slam on the hump. As for car park lots, if reverse park no problem but I came across the carpark at Downtown East with diagonal head in parking lots and the concrete block in the front is too high, in fact it was too high for the car when it was stock as well. So no real downside to changing to Eibach springs w/o changing shocks.

Hi Rev,

You can add KW into your list of consideration, we have Variant 1 with pre-set damping and ht adjustable F 30-60 & R 25-55, S$2016/set. Or you can opt for Variant 2 with same ht adjustable as V1 but with the additional of adjustable rebound damping, S$2520/set. Includes 5% GST and also comes with 1yr or 20k km warranty.

We have fixed a couple of E90s and they are hapi customer.

Cheers:)

Hump? why would it? Even though lowered but when u go over the road humps both the left/rights wheels will lift the car off the ground at equal height

Kerb? I always park with arse in first :) The reverse sensor will help to guide my entry so that I dont go in hard and kiss anything.

To all hia-dees who feel like lowering, ...JUST DO IT.

I did mine at Juzz 4 Cars, including a subsequent wheel alignment. All in all it took a little > 3 hrs

Re: e90 lowering options: springs only?

nisteroo...some car parks have a stone slab behind to stop your wheels right...not all car parks same height so some will kenna exhaust before fully reversed in...also some outdoor parking places the pavement quite high may also kenna exhaust/bodykit if you have any..but whatever it is DO NOT go in head 1st!

Re: e90 lowering options: springs only?

KW V2 offers rebound damping? does that mean i can make it softer for a comfortable ride?
