E60 bhp :helpp!:

Re: E60 bhp :helpp!:

Kopi-O,

I seriously suggest u do a pre-dyno before your ECU remapped. Sometimes after tunning your bhp may be slightly higher but the area under the graph may be less. U may need more rpm to reach your peak torque which make your car not so drivable. To make it worst your bhp and torque may even be reduced after tuning. So do a pre and post dyno is the only way u can be sure and make sure u go to the same dyno place/machine.

Good luck and pls post your FR after tuning.

Cheers!

Just thinking … if the 523 is so “easily” tuned to the performance of 525, or better, than from a pure business point of view, BMW they will be shooting themselves in the foot. How will they than able to move their 525s?

The fact that they have the same engine (so we were led to believe) on both 523 and 525, they must have implemented some “anti-hack” safe guard to prevent tuners from hacking into their ECU etc.

Is it impossible? Probably not, but I am not sure the average tuners (including HiOP, DMS etc) have the resources and knowledge to do a proper job. Perhaps I will be more comfortable with tuners that are more closely related to BMW, like ACS.

My ½ cents …

Not too sure about BMW but for MINI, the MINI One and Cooper(same engine block) difference of 25 horses can be released by a simple program such as Hi-Op,ACS, AMD etc. The price difference that PML charges is about $20K :whattheh: but the Cooper comes with leather and sport plus suspension. The MINI ECU is very similiar to BMW, my ECU got BMW logo all over.

Cheers!

I am planning to do a before and after dyno. I am not so interested in the ultimate numbers but the improvements and the shape of the curves. Hopefully there won't be any strange dips in the middle of the curves! With the delay to Hiop I now have time to run in my car properly, and also perhaps look for alternatives.

Re: E60 bhp :helpp!:

Part numbers are the same & the website is very accurate!

No pulleys in the market for the new magnesium engine yet.

Dun tink it's that easy to flash the ECU too.....It'll take awhile for aftermarket tuners to hack into BMW software.....

If Hi-op or DMS can do it, pls post FR yah!!

Cheers
