E46: Left window mirror tilt down when reversing?

Is it possible to program the car such that whenever I put to reverse gear R, the left window will tilt down to enable me to see better the left side of the car park space? Or it is a feature that you have to purchase?

Curr driving a Feb99 E46.

Would appreciate any advice. TIA. :wavey:

Your ride should already come equipped with this function when you buy it. Otherwise, you can send it in to PML and get it programmed into your ECU.

Chances are they will. As to the exact amount, you need to check with them.

if you car got memory seat function then most likely you will hv the mirror function.

i might me wrong thot.

best is to call PML up and ask 1st before making a trip there.

if you have memory seats, what you need to do is to (1) put the car into reverse gear whilst parked; (2) adjust the left mirror until it reaches the desired position and then (3) once it's in the desired position, set the memory. Whenever you engage reverse after that, left mirror will go to the pre-set position. ONLY WORKS IF YOU SET POSITION IN REVERSE GEAR.

no you do not have the function, for a Feb 99 model. i believe should be the M43 318i.

Piangz! So pissed off with PML. Sent my car in for servicing and now when I go into reverse the mirror Tilts UP!!!
What the hell did they do man. Solve one problem introduce another...

Don't worry jaskin, they didn't introduce another problem. Do the following to see if it fixes your problem.

1. Set the mirror selector to front passenger mirror.
2. When in reverse gear, adjust the passenger mirror to point to any direction you want.
3. Passenger mirror will point to direction set everytime you're in reverse gear (catch is that you'll have to have the mirror selector to the left, if to the right, won't work)
4. Any other gears, the passenger mirror should return to original position.

Give it a try. It's actually in the manual...
