Has anybody removed the E36 window motor regulator by themselves before? What tools are needed?

Re: E36 Window Motor Regulator

Hey thanks for the link, read through it and only one guy has a problem similar to mine and there was no post on how to resolve it. And I just repaired my damn sagging door panels..argh..hopefully they don't break when I open them.

Anyway here's my problem:

My driver window will go with one click but when it reaches the bottom I can still hear the motor running and it won't stop, have to press up once to stop it. When I press up with one click, it won't go up. I have to hold onto the button for it to go up all the way, and when it reaches the top I will hear a loud "thud" sound from the door. Seems like my motor is fine, since it can go up and come down fully...

Hi brother, no problem just go ahead to strip your door panel. I can make sure that your door panel is attached to inner window channel cover tight after installing, even if you have very very old door panel. Post your problem here, best with photos.

What happened to my door panels was that the clip holders themselves were broken. Since I couldn't get a set with the same colour door panels, I got a donor set and transfered the clip holders over to replace the broken clip holders. Put them in with epoxy...so far they are holding on strong.

I really do not understand what method you used to repair it.

I took a few bamboo chopsticks from a hawker centre, Use chopping knife to chop them into small parts, two to three inches long each.

Remove the door panel and inner window channel cover. Then, put them together and use bamboo sticks to put it through the clips. Install the whole thing onto the door.

Here is a photo after everything is done.

Tight, very solid and strong. Never drop out. Can last for next 10 years COE.

My issue was not with the clips, but rather the clip holders which are on the back of the door panel..many of them were broken and couldn't hold the white clips tightly. So I removed those holders that were broken and replaced complete ones from another set of door panel which I bought cheap.

Ohhh...your method sounds creative and looks good from the photos...but I also can't understand what you mean by putting the bamboo sticks through the clips. A very ingenious method I must say...
