E36 Fuel consumption

Hello all bros in here

Just want to find out what is the mean of the fuel consumption for your E36 for cross referencing.

Mine is only doing 435km for 59litres of petrol. with 17s, Falken 215/45/R17 for a 318i

Appreciate your valuable inputs and time.:)

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

you should be getting 8 - 8.5km/l if it is an auto.

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

Its quite normal though.

For me, if I don't use aircon, its around 11km/l provided I drive conservatively.

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

base on the calculation it is less than 8km/litre. Will driving without the a/c achieved til 11km/litres? Any upgrades to improve the consumptions?

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

Go Green, go for a manual conversion to save fuel.

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

Keeping your car at peak condition will make sure you car will run at optimal FC...

Manual converstion does do the trick pretty well...I used to drive automatic but now on manual. Its much more fun to drive and it has proven to have higher FC.

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

auto tranny should register about 8.5km/ltr.... mine is a rock steady 10.5km/ltr minimum with a stick shift... 318i too..

PS: my 316i gets about the same mileage, no less than 10km/ltr...

clearing out some of the carbon content in the engine might help! a top end overhaul would take care of that.. make sure ur exhaust isnt leaking anywhere, esp at the weld seams, run good gas, use good plugs...:)..and get rid of that open cone filter if u've got one!!..hahah..:)..

hope this helps..

cheers

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

Michael,

My ride just went for servicing and heard that they drained off the engin oil and top up again. Is it different from the top end overhaul that you mention?(which clear the carbon contents) Plugs just repalced (not sure what was being installed during the servicing). I do not have the cone filter.(stock ones). I'm running on 95 petrol, is it good enough petrol?

One more thing, during idling, there is this inconsistant idling sound heard? Is it normal for all old cars? It sounds to me that there might be some choke in the exhauste or something.
Cheers,

Hi International,

Re: E36 Fuel consumption

servicing is changing of engin oil. top overhaul is different. they will take out the head n clean to clear all the carbon.
