e36 car seats

Re: e36 car seats

Let me bring back a 3 week old thread. I have been having the squeaky seat problem the day I got my E36 (about a month ago). The squeaks are from the leather rubber against another object. I have managed to pin point the sound coming from 2 places.

1) backrest of seat rubbing against centre console arm rest
2) seat rubbing against base of seat belt receiver

I have temp eliminated them by putting a used car park coupon in between those places. I will prob stick some kind of matching colour fabric on the backrest of seat so as to get rid of the sound from arm rest. The base of seat belt receiver is a little trickier as the place is really tight. I tot of getting a sock (new, of coz!), cut it to about 3" and pull it over the base. Any idea what is the best way to fix this?

Bro, save all that trouble.... go buy the leather care lotion. But it must be those oil based type... rub some onto the leather and after 10 mins it will be squeaky free...

which leather care lotion will you recommend? how long will it stay "squeaky free" after each application? Will it make the seat slippery? My dog is already finding it very hard to keep his balance so he prefer to stand on the floor in the car (maybe that is a good way to keep him off those leathers).

Bro, u try use Amour all (think it's spell this way) those that u use for tyres shine 1st. Maybe that shld work. Juz rub on the side of your seat and the arm rest area. NOT the whole seat. Used to have this problem on my previous 36 coupe. But i use some leather care lotion which makes the leather soft. So after applications, it last for months... Once in a while when i polish my car, will take some time to apply a little more.
