E-Ram Electric Supercharger

Fong Kim has these on their website. I've done a ton of "research" and found two schools of thought about this:

i) Electric superchargers (aka bilge fan scam) are POS and all peddlers of such systems are con-men seeking to separate wallet from fools. Sadly these responses seem to be of the "I've never tried it but if it's not a turbocharger, it aint worth shit" variety.

ii) Electric superchargers often do not work, but this one appears to work giving 6-11 rwhp gains. Several links claim this:

Two Guys Garage Forum - The eRAM electric supercharger
eBay Guides - ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGERS The real story
Team3S- Dodge Stealth Mitsubishi 3000GT Owners Pages

These responses appear to do some work and have some math to back them up, but I don't really trust them.

Has anyone here had any experience on them? Do they work together with GruppeM? Hopefully someone from FK can comment?

Tks!

imho, 6-11 rwhp gains can be gain by other mods that are proven to work.
Y spend $$ on something u find skeptical?

Well it's relatively cheap by mods standards (I recall it's under $1k) and I've read independent reviews that it actually does work, complete with the math corroborating on battery drain etc, so I thought it's quite interesting. :)

The ARMA supercharger on the other hand was $12k, and -that- was a scary POS.

Well yeah so far that's been my take, since no one has given any opinion. Anyway I PMed FK directly and never got a response.

My other worry is whether it will kill my battery faster because it takes a HUGE drain, although only at WOT.

Hi bro,

A old friend of mine tested it on his M3 (Madza 3 I mean :) ) and it works for him. Throttle response is faster (more responsive), some gain in torque at low rpm only (butt feeling). The gain is somehow just like installing a sport exhaust system like that, rpm run more freely. However, he still pissed off when he still can't win the Skoda Taxi turbo diesel when light turns green, 0-100....%%$$%$$#@

In other word, he said that dont waste time on it, go straight to either supercharging or turbo charging or DME remapping.

He caution me that the controller that come with the blower doesn't last long, always give problem like burn fuse etc etc after a couple of months......

Hope this help.

Thanks bro! Yes it helps a lot. Especially about the part of the controller burning quickly.. urgh.. :oooops:

Re: E-Ram Electric Supercharger

I am surprised that people are still talking about these electric supercharger things. They are not worth the parts they were built, same as cyclone, tornado air thing, etc.
