Durability and rigidibility of E90 LCI front bumper

This has been bothering me for the whole night. This evening, an Audi reversed into my E90 LCI front bumper when he was parking. I was packing something at my boot at that time when I felt that my car had a jerk (no banging sound). I immediately went forward to see what happened, then I realized the guy had reversed into my car. I then went to inspect high and low at both my front bumper and his rear bumper. Surprisingly I didn't manage to find any visible defect or damage (not even a scratch) to my front bumper but his Audi rear bumper seem to have very slight dent. I let the matter rest since it appeared no damage. However, i still don't feel good and uneasy the entire night cos I am concern that there might be internal damage or the internal structure got bent or something like that. Just curious if any of the bros here encounter similar incidences (touch wood) before? Any comments on the durability of our rides' front bumpers? Do you think I should let an expert to examine etc? Any possible implication to other parts of our rides?

sometime the mounting bracket is damage but cannot see, need someone from workshop to check to confirm.

Re: Durability and rigidibility of E90 LCI front bumper

Ya, u can bring it to workshop, just in case.
Btw my experiences are:
- I was stationary. Jap MPV tried to ebrake but still bump into me lightly from the back. My rear bumper got a slight scratch. His number plate cracked and fell off.
- I reverse into my neighbour's Merc. Got a scratch on my rear bumper. Her bumper cracked.

So the above scenarios are quite similar to urs, impact at very slow speed.
For technical aspect like the material, paint, etc, will let the others explain.....me no guru :D

yes you might have damaged the internals... and ur engine also..then ur pipes.. then the impact might have hit ur fuel tank.. and battery..

spark plugs might be affected from the impact....

later car can catch fire and explode...

JK..... dont worry should be fine... as long as u move the bumper no sound.. its okay.. if clippings broke..u shake the bumper can tell one

Did you ask the Audi driver to write a 'black & white' that he had reversed into your car & that he was the one whose at fault?

Don't be surprised later he claim his damaged rear bumper against you saying you wack into his rear........

'The Great White'

No leh. But don't think he will do that cos I often see him around. It's just base on trust. But good point noted.

Wah bro you scared me initially. I thought of that too. Should be ok. Think just forget about it. Heart pain cos car less than 2 weeks old.

So did you repair your bumper on both occasions? Any internal damage?

That's my concern cos my previous Opel suffered similar plight. Rear bumper appeared ok but actually internal structure got bent and I can see slight misalignment. This time round I didn't notice any misalignment or visible damage so think not as bad. But still uneasy. Maybe should just go and install bodykit and change the whole front bumper. :)

No. I don't repair scratches.
No. No internal damage, only scratches.
I am not talking about big impact at high speed.

it seems like your bumper should be okay for this case.. no harm sending it for checks.. our bumper material is quite elastic and strong.. not ABS or fibre glass type.. different material..

I had done a research and if not wrong, BMW OEM bumpers are made of PU material, which is supposedly the best material. It is lightweight, durable and flexible. A piece of mind now.
