in photography 90% is the photographer..10% is in the equipment... (ok this is my rule of thumb..)
but seriously.. a good shot is about timing and good eyes but never the camera....

I agree that the skills of photographer play a big part in photography but choosing the right lens to use for different occasions is also very important.

Maybe we should organize a macro/ landscape photo shoot gtg and then post pics

Re: DSLR wannabe Photographers or Professionals Come In!

Perspective, composition & eye for detail.
That's primary. Equipment comes later.

Many people seldom max out even the capabilities of their compact cameras.
Before jumping to DSLR.

Well said. I am still holding onto my 1st DSLR, D70s. The only upgrade is 28-105 lens (from D90 kit). Anyway, i did not max out my previous film based DSLR.

Agree too... Too many features and functions. Needless to say Skill over Equipment + photoshop :lol2:

Me bought an Olympus E-420 two years back and it has served me well on several overseas trips. Bought a super long zoom and a prime lens earlier this year. Waiting for a new Olympus to come out ;) Hope to learn from the bros here.
