A robber was beaten to death by members of the public as he tried to make his gateway with an accomplice after robbing a petrol station in Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur last night.

Vigilante "justice" should always have its limit. Be it this public lynching episode in KL or overzealous STOMPing of peanut-scule incidents (thereby clogging up the public reporting channels for real crimes) here, it points to a lack of constraint on the part of the public oft created by more serious issues inherent in the system.

Very common sight in Chinese villages. They will beat the shit out of snatch thieves and robbers before alerting the police. Police will intervene only when the mob is to violent. Normally none of the vigilantes are charged.

Having said that, presented with a choice, I would opt for public intervention then a standing public watching.
