I saw on sgcarmart a car advertised and sold by a dealer. A month later same car appears but by a different dealer. number of owners unchanged but mileage increased couple of thousands. What happened?

Hi longhorn,

some dealer do sell to other dealer but very rare..........they will usually help one and other on the sales of their cars....and some same Bosses but different company name......

some dealer do drive the car home that's why mileage goes up......or use it for Night Drive

definitely possible.

some are same boss with different coy names. my own experience, trade in car with pml but car ended up with some ah beng car dealer... ( :

Re: do car dealers sell cars to each other?

answer is yes.

doesnt have to be dealership with the same boss.

sometimes when a car is stuck with dealer A for awhile, dealer B comes along and have a ready buyer, or think they are able to sell it for more, they can take it off dealer A for a mutually agreed price. and A will be more than willing to let go if they believe that they exhuasted the mkt and their own contacts for a potential buyer.

there will be no increase in number of owners
because dealers do an 'e transfer' instead of an end owner to end owner trsf which will amt to a extra trsf count.

for example, u sell your car to a dealer, owner is now the dealership. but when they sell it off to the end buyer, the end buyer is only the 2nd instead of the 3rd owner. e trsf is only applicable to used car dealership

mileage can be anything. can be door step viewing? or mostly, its because they drove the car ard.

Dude, go test-drive the A4 cab and then a 325/335 cab... and you know the difference on performance and handling :sneaky:

Re: do car dealers sell cars to each other?

Dealers definitely sell cars to each other and they do sell each others' cars contrary to popular beliefs.

They will do so so long as it is profitable... i.e: my old car was traded to Cartimes for my E90 @ 6XK and 2 weeks later, i found it on SGCarmart being advertised by Eurospeed @ 8XK...

Some dealers who are not specialized in dealing with your car may even buy it on behalf of their "friendly party" at a slightly lowered price or "market buying price" then earn 2-3k by transferring it to their friendly party.

As to mileage, salesmen do drive used cars home and yesh, they do get to drive luxury and conti models home... I used to drive a "super low mileage" Lexus back in 2005 -6 home when i was a sales team leader @ a used car dealer and was upgraded to a E Class when promoted to Mgr...

Also, test drives will also increase the mileage....

Some stories from an Ex-Insider of trade...

Yup, I went to see the car yesterday and dealer allowed me to go on a fairly long test drive. Also the engine was already warm when I got there. So I guess they do drive it quite a bit. Thx for the insider insights!

Haha.. true true. But for me, a cab (if I do get one) is MORE for SHOW and LESS for GO

Also went to see a "used" import used A4 Cab. That's another thing I don't quite understand. Used import used selling at same prices as used AD cars.... How to price these cars???

the dealer will say this is a low mileage car and attempt to ask for higher price
:biggun:
it seems like buying from sgcarmart must print out "history" of advertisement to prevent from being smoked

mileage go up can understand... what abt go down? :ehhh:
Used BMW 335i Coupe Car for Sale in Singapore, AT Auto Enterprise - sgCarMart
Used BMW 335i Coupe Car for Sale in Singapore, Manhattan Motor - sgCarMart

maybe it's 2 different cars but i don't think so... :shakehea:

Could it be typo? Hopefully yes else .....

I saw this car 2 times on the road and that is while they are still marketing this unit, the price is reasonable in view of current senseless COE but just can't move.
I wonder why?
I concurred it could be the mileage cos they did not display their mileage in the ad, a typical example of dealer style in not disclosing high mileage.

It seem to me now there is one more risk in buyin PI car, no reliable source to check mileage.
