you can reset these indicator, which lights up during service intervals, yourself...i was charged $22 for such resets during my last service....of course that's provided you have checked/changed the wear n tear parts.

It's more relevant for those BS service indicators - e.g. in my case are roadworthiness test and exhaust emission.

That's bad. I thought they should have reset it for you.

btw, did they charge you $22 for it? If yes, really must bang table and ask for refund.

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

Yes They Indeed Are!!! Can simply brush off by saying there's nothing we can do and it's normal. So I am always suspicious whether if I am now driving a below par "Ultimate Driving Machine" or driving something else.... wth! :(

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

diy reset the date for service to 02/2012 ... chop chop 1min job

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

I have always wondered how to turn all these service indicators off. I also have a front brake inspection due in another 1,000 km.

Service reset DIY - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com
alright, for convenience sake, i copy&paste it here
just follow these simple 6 steps

Step 1
Insert key into slot

Step 2
Press start/stop button without depressing clutch/brake and wait for the service reminder to dissapear.

Step 3
Immediately after service reminder goes out, press and hold the odometer reset. After 3 secs a warning triangle will appear, keep the odo. button pressed and after another 2-3 secs the Oil can will appear. I f you hold it too long (10 secs in total) you will overshoot the runway and some German writing will appear giving the software level/ can bus etc. of the car. Go back to the beginning and start again.

Step 4
You are now in the service menu, use the toggle switch on indicator stalk to scroll up/down through the various service items.

Step 5
When you have the item you want to reset showing, press the BC button on end of indicator stalk. Reset should now appear in the display. Press in and hold the BC button for 2-3 secs and a clock will start whirling around and hey presto, its done

Step 6
You can now either scroll up/down to select another item (as in step 4) or you can press the start/stop button to exit.

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

I tried today but in step 2, an exclamation mark came on. Tried to press the odometer reset but no effect. My is E90, 2007 model, is it the same way to do it?

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

Just tried. Works wonderfully as mentioned. Mine's a 320i E90 2006. Thanks a bunch guys.

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

Still unable to reset. Anyone care to tell me what's wrong? I've followed the steps
As mentioned. Must you wait till the service indicator turns red? ie. Overdue?

Re: DIY Service Indicator Reset

Ok guys. I managed to reset. But I need to startup my engine first, then hold the odometer
Button for about 3 seconds. The service indicator will appear. The rest of the steps
Are the same. Very happy. :)
