guys i wanna start this thread to discuss the new location. lets try to do this in point form and see how we can improve with it. i will break into 3 segments. pls add on.

LIKES
- location
- more running
- more role for goalie

DISLIKES
- confusing play from what we are used to(maybe temporary)
- too much stoppage when ball runs out behind goal
- less skills (debatable)
- too much ramming of ball (debatable)
- long wait..harder to score.

DISCUSSION
- we need to find out how to smooth it out. do we change the style of play? shoot inside blue D only? or shoot inside yellow D only? i would like to try that rather than shooting from outside. i feel that this will encourage more ground play...also cut out the long throws by goalie which keeps going out after one bounce. shooting inside either Ds also will prevent ball from going out too often.

LIKES
- more running, more space to exploit
- more role for goalie
- a proper goalpost that is of the correct height

DISLIKES
- not organised, some players still not used to the court.
- too much ramming of ball
- BLOODLY LONG WAIT..harder to score.

We cannot shoot inside the yellow D because it will be more difficult to score and the wait will be longer. IF can only shoot in the yellow D, i will put half my team in the D to defend and block shots. I think a lot of players are not used to playing here, give them some time to adapt.

LIKES

- multi dimensional playing experience..(toiletsiao)
- Durian picking is less likely to happen now.(toiletsiao)

DISLIKES

- less skills (debatable)
- too much ramming of ball (debatable)

RULE:
I think yesterdays rule is ok
- Shoot any area after half court as long as outside blue D.
- Instead of playing 2 goals..we play 1 goal swop?

STYLE:
Depends on individual..i feel that a paitent passing game works well here due to the size of the court(more space)....as compared to a more push - run style in TMS club..
when ppl adjusted to the playing style of this court think alot of issues pointed by toto will be minimised...

Court Size - larger court simply means 6 against 6 instead of 5 vs 5. Indifferent.

Scoring Goals - we have been playing no shooting from long range at Temasek. I suggest we change the rules to "Shoot On Sight" - any area, including the semi-D penalty area. If you observe, the distance to the goal mouth does not mean higher chance to score. The only way to score goals is still through (1) long range punts (2) fast and efficient one-two passing and tapping in at close range.

[Back then, in Temasek, the no-long-range policy was set because of the small confined space - you really dun wanna blast the ball into your friends' faces. But the court at Alexandra Hopsital is huge. The impact is not as hard as felt in Temasek.]

Waiting Time - change the shooting rules and we will see if a one-goal-out or two-goals-out policy applies......

The only negative is the parking charges, but hey, the court is free. Another plus point is the canteen.

Thanks to Gavin for the booking.

LIKES
- Location
- more running, room for error for me.
- goalie do not have to dive too much, gloves might be handy. Don't restrict goalie to blue D? perhaps yellow D or half court be good.

DISLIKES

- Stoppages, kicking of ball by defenders behind own goal line to keep possession. We can continue with this rule but only if ball goes behind goal line within blue D boundaries, outside of blue D if ball is kicked out by defender, then a corner kick or throw be awarded to attacker.

- Long wait, due to attackers reluctance to shoot. Small court mentality.

- Retrieval of ball when kicked out of court, but not as many balls being kicked out compared to TMC.

- Toilet, easy to settle i guess...juz settle before coming.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

I suggest awarding the ball back to attacking team (reset from goalie) if the ball rolls out of goal-line last touched by the defending team.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

i wud like to consider 2 options.

shoot anywhere...no D markings.....
5 on 5

more running....more work out.....faster turn around time

yea we could try out 5 on 5 if it means more teams, hence bit more time to rest from running around e bigger area.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

LIKES
- nice location
- more running
- better shooting
- height of goalpost
- D protects goalie. goalie will not get a foot in the face.

DISLIKES

- Kicking of ball by defenders behind own goal line to keep possession.

Agree with much of what toilet pointed out.

~Turn around time between teams was much faster after the first hour (maybe tired, or use to the space).
~Long throws by keeper? Really up to the team to decide how they want to play the game.
~5 vs 5 sounds good as well, more space, but rules wise, maybe we should stick to the normal futsal rules? ie shoot anywhere after half court but out of the D.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

I will go with the rules of the majority... like the place too, cos cross the road it's e famous 'san-lao horfun' already. ABC is like 1 min's drive away too. :)

Yum yum.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

For spectator...

Plus

- got place for me to sit
- more food around the area so I can go off and have my dinner and come back
- got canteen nearby (yes, it's all about food)

Minus

- parking but I'm not complaining or can be like toto if you think too expensive. Haha... I don't even remember how much the parking was.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

Play the proper futsal rules, minus the out lines but have the corners.

Purposely kicking the ball out to defend and thus regaining possession is downright disgusting.

Shoot anywhere, and 5-5 will see alot more space for passing, as well as goals being scored. Keep the 2goals swap instead of 1.

Parking is the biggest downside to me.

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

*6 vs 6 is fine...
*one goal swap is also reasonable
*kicking ball out is n0t disgusting, cos the rule say so WE CAN DO IT
*corner rule can be impose
*the current shooting rule protects the goalie wich is fine too
*parking is $4.50..but fine since valet park is at least $10 ...haha
ENJOY THE GAME..COS I SCORE A 30 SEC GOAL!!!!!

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

am i the only one who is different?

i love the court but not the rule...yes the new rule protects the goalie.. but that makes alot of goalie does long throws...which is never accurate... and make the strikers just whack their balls off... which waste time... and 99% of the time off target....

i agree with shawn to have the proper futsal rules with corners..maybe it will be better...plus...we can only shoot inside the yellow D only...

parking is not a problem to me..just that waiting to play the game sucks....

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

First of all, I really appreciate the fact that we have a place to play, without outsiders interfering. No bribing of guards needed for now at least...

Regarding turn around time, playing 2 goals out rule last night seemed a bit too long. However, we did switch to 1 goal out rule, and then I wasted 3 cigarettes, because each game lasted less than 3 mins at best.

Playing 6 v 6, or 5 v 5? I feel that we can try 5 v 5 next time, but this will give a noticable advantage to teams who have guys that can run non-stop, aka better stamina. I'm sure turn around time was the biggest gripe amongst everyone last night.

Blue-D should stay as to protect the goalie from close range slaughter. Although, it hurted like mad when I had to save those full BLAST balls from outside the D area, but that's part of the game.

Playing style was definitely different last night, and I actually liked the way it had forced everyone to play differently too. More room to look for spaces to pass, more/less running depending on whether you wanna play like Bobby and ciong down the entire flank SOLO! and score goals that need camera replays.

Trying to score was definitely harder at close range, as most of the time we have already ran into the blue D area. However, for those experts shooting from outside, it should be a bonus at last.

Fatigue will be a big factor for all of us (or most of us). I twisted my ankle quite badly as I was really out of gas liao... still stupid enough to chase farhin, and then lose balance. So I'm out of playing for at least 2 weeks.

Hope you guys enjoy the new playground. Or we can ask gavin to book the full grass field at Alexandra Hospital? ;)

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

LIKES
- wonderful location
- definately more running
- size of goal post
- space to challenge the defenders
- more space
- applying tactical advantage
- the blue d as no-entry zone for attackers

DISLIKES

- letting the ball roll across the line for goal kick
- long throws by goalies to the other end of the court
- waiting time?

the court at A.H is great. with the space of the court, it provides the opportunity to run at the defender, pass the ball, play it back or shoot. like wat toilet said, provides multi dimensional playing experience.

having said this, everyone wants to improve and this venue provides that chance. defenders have to worry about more things like players running, cutting off the thru balls, blocking the shots, closing the attacker down faster. it helps the individual to improve on running, stamina, reading and controlling the game. like when your team is tired and lacking that edge, its time to calm down the play and thread passes around to open up the gaps for a sight on goal.

while rules that can be improve is - the ball rolling out of the end line, implement a throw in? kick in? if the ball was touched by the defender whether he intentionally or tried to block the shot. it provides a more attacking game. Everyone likes a action pack attacking game rather than a defending boring game.

goalies also won't be injured so badly by kicks in the shin/face/head or shoves on the back like at T.C. from what i feel, the long shots doesn't really constitutes to a harder shot. Imagine the force behind a shot that is kicked directly in front of you into your stomach, it will definately feel twice as painful as a shot taken 7-9m away. Maybe we can ask ben how it felt, he saved a couple of shots right in his stomach.

thats just my 2cents worth. :)

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

james, it's the shots that had to be saved by using one hand that hurt the most. if you know how to cushion the shot, having your body suck in the ball hurts less actually. ouch~!

Re: Discussion - Futsal Court At Alex Hospital

Likes - convenient location
more running space
more skills required

Dislike - present rules allow goalie to pick the ball by hand when their own team players passed back to them, thus encourage defensive n boring play, resulting longer waiting time for other team waiting outside.

And as for the '5 v 5 or 6 v 6' n 1 goal or 2 goal swop', that depends on the turn out that nite and we can then adjust accordingly. Other then above mentioned, all rules can remain status quo.
