Did you change your fan belt before?

mine kaput today at about 135,xxx km

heng managed to find a random workshop to change it....
if not cny can take cab liao

My E60 fan belt kaput at about that range too. Unfortunately for me, it followed with the loss of power steering and engine overheat and within minutes, water coolant box exploded and white steam gushed out of my car's bonnet. Painful repair costs.

That's why serpentine belt change is identified as one of the key preventive changes that should be made after you cross 100k mark. If you want to push it you had better have it inspected frequently for cracks & tears. Sometimes the screeching sound of a slipping belt will give you prior warning of impending failure.

Yup, usually when you are down there you might as well replace the thermostat & water pump as well.

Might as well have a look at the o2 sensors while at it ...... And some of the vanos solenoids which is close by ......

At the rate it's going - he might have a new ride with all the by the ways .... Haha !
