For those who has been owning BMWs for a long time or have traded in a BMW for another, whatever the reason for doing it...............

When is the best time to get rid of your current car for a new one, considering that depreciation of car value is reality is not linear. after 2 years? 3 years? 5 years?

Re: Depreciation - when is it best to sell your BMW

as a matter of fact, how does one calculate depreciation of car? would appreciate bros here to advice if my calc is correct. tia.

assumption:
1) a E90 bought at $129000;
2) OMV at $41000 (or PARF at yr 10 is $22550 [50% * {110% of OMV}])

So yearly depreciation would be $[(129000-22550) / 10] = $10645?

Cars don't depreciate linearly. Your $[(129000-22550) / 10] = $10645 only holds true if you intend to drive for 10 years.

You then take that as a guage when you're trying to sell.

With the current PARF rebate levels, it'll be harder to sell at the 5th year.
