How often do you guys change your sparkplugs?

Is there a way to determine if they are in need of changing?

Are the differences between the cheaper ones and more expensives one significantly noticeable?

Lastly, any of you guys got experience with this "Denso Iririum IK20 Sparkplugs" ?

Thanks for any imput guys :)

Re: Denso Iririum IK20 Sparkplugs

IK20 is just a high performance plug and would have to be replaced as per normal i.e. around 20 ~ 30k depending. Can't remember the exact model of the long life plugs that's rated for 80K or more..

Re: Denso Iririum IK20 Sparkplugs

I am on OWS Zx-7. That's the replacement for the 320i e46. I thought that Ik20 would be equivalent to NGK 6, as most normally aspirated jap cars would use IK20. Hi comp engines like the K20 would use IK22, or NGK7s. I would think that the ows 7 = NGK 7? Hence should you be using IK22 instead? The mech told me that normally European cars run hotter, hence need a hotter spark plug. You may want to make sure you use the same spec of plug as if you're running one model lower, you may find that the high end is not as smooth. If I were you, I'd just stick to Bosche or OWS. You won't see much if any gains from different brands of spark plugs. People notice that their cars get smoother is also because it is a new plug compared to the old, so really hard to judge. Buy plugs that people have used for long periods with no problems.
