Custom exhaust vs others

was just wondering whats the difference between, say a custom exhaust at fong kim and eisenmann / miltek / etc.

asking cause my friend got his exhaust custom made at fong kim more free flowing etc..
and it costs much less.

comments please.

build quality and the brand name.....

big brands like eisenmann ,miltek, remus, sebring etc etc, they are exhaust makers and they have also done their research n development for that particular car and exhaust.

to each its own.....i am not saying custom is not good but just paying for a piece of mind. i am sure some guys here custom their exhaust n mid pipes, i am sure they will give their feedback ........

i would prefer custom over off the shelf. as long as the custom guy knows what he's doing and not just welding pipe together

if you're talking abt operating the rear muffler only, i've witnessed it done on 2 different cars and they sound rather "lau hong". if you want it bassier, you're probably gonna have to customise the midpipes as well to remove the resonators and cats but that'll mean your car is no longer lta compliant and pretty damn loud.

the welding work of local exhaust shops is also less than ideal, as is the selection of pipe sizes for bmw which follow the metric system whereas locally, pipes are available only in increments of 0.25 or 0.5inch
