Hi,

Had been enjoying my 5 year old ride since i got it last week and today realised that my driver side can hear creaking noise especially i am turning in carpark. It goes like tack tack tack tack...sems to come from the B pillar where the safetly belt is. Any bro got any remendies? Many thanks in advance.

Re: Creaks in E60

Die liao. no cure. change car liao.

Kidding you.

should be lower arms or bushings worn. since 5 yrs, i think need to replace liao. around $700 the last time i changed them.

Re: Creaks in E60

Hi may i know how does worn lower arm result in interior creaking sounding. Or some describe as rattling sound? Any other way of verifying that the lower arm is worn? Many thanks in advance.

Re: Creaks in E60

Not sure what you're experiencing is the same as what some E60 bros had encountered. Interior creaking noises from the door area come from the door seal (the suede portion on the door) rubbing against the door frame (on the car). What PML did was to apply friction tapes around the door frame but this doesn't always eliminate all creaking noises. A common solution is to apply lubricant (some use Vaseline; I use leather cream) onto the suede portion of the door seal. You will need to reapply the lubricant periodically, say at least once a month, as it dries out and the noise would recur.

Hope your noise is the same as described above.

Re: Creaks in E60

You'll have to listen carefully where the noise is coming from. Noise from the control arm will usually come from the front chasis and thus should sound like its coming from the bottom of the car instead on the interior of the car.

Re: Creaks in E60

Thanks bro for all the advice...the sounds seems to come from the right door area and also B pillar. I did not experience these sound for the first few days of driving the car. All was quiet and nice. Only the sound came yesterday...i will try the door seal menthod if the sounds come back.

And strangely, even thou the sound still persist this morning, by noon it was gone. Grounds were wet this afternoon after the rain and i see no reason why wet ground = cabin no sounds. I try again in late afternoon and really no more sound. I also tilt up my car seat a bit....i try again later and see if there are more sounds...

the places i trvael are mostly the same everyday..home cp, office cp and ecp...of coure during staight cruising speed, there is no sound. Sound usually is during turning around carpark or uneven ground.

Re: Creaks in E60

likely its the flexing of your car body thus the slight movement of the door seal against the door frame

Re: Creaks in E60

prob ur windows. friction tape needed. most bmws hv this problem. even when new.

Re: Creaks in E60

ok thanks maybe i will try to get some friction tape tomorrow and diy. Btw as i drove out and back just now, the sound dint come back. Seems to be 2 rubber or some parts rubbing against itself...i will try and update here again, Many thanks for bros advice.

Re: Creaks in E60

wow i read thru the long 12 pages and dint know such a thread exist for our ride. One of the post says that the cracks is more obvious during hot weather and not during rainy days...seems to be the case for me...i was out in the rain and maybe some rain water lubricate the rubber seal..haha....and kudos to the bro who invented use the talcum powder method. If the sound comes back, that will be my first remedy. Hope it works...thanks again for bro advice. I am just glad that it is not the lower arm etc that cause the sound but defintely will ask mech to check during next servicing.

live with it.

I have a 8 yr old E39 and there are creaks every now & then when the road is uneven. The worst thing is it was perfectly silent until 2nd time i drove into Malaysia.
