Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

Was wondering if anyone has used these rims before on an E60 525i and interested in feedback.

Currently running 17" RFT and the ride is quite bad already, was wondering if changing to 18" RFT will be much worse? Performance wise as well as consumption? What is the ideal rim size for E60 525i? I don't want the ride to be too bumpy but at the same time am interested in a different look for the car as there are so many identical cars with the exact same rims as mine on the road.

With 30% discount at PML, was quoted a price of $5,507.93 for the 18" M-Double Spoke, is it worth it to change with PML (considering the 30% discount) or better to go Ah Peng etc?

Have to decide soon because the 30% offer only valid for 6 months.

Thanks to all bros and gals in advance for replying, you guys have always been very helpful, appreciated!!

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

if u really like the rims dun think u have a choice. those rims dun come by easily. hence not many ppl selling 2nd hand.

with 30% definitely can buy. plus its RFT's they r giving. expensive though not necessarily the best tyres

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

Hey bro, thanks for your input. I was checking that time with Ah Peng, even if I trade in my current 17" rims, it's still more expensive to buy it from him than to buy from PML with the 30% off. You're right these rims are quite rare, but not sure if in terms of ride quality it will be seriously affected or not.

The tyres they are offering are Bridgestone RE050.

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

with those tyres..surely the decibel will be more audible..especially RFTs have a harder compound..if you feel 17 inchs is nosiy...then 18 inchs will be worse.

fuel consumption will also increase but depending on how you drive, it may be marginal. But on the good side...CAR WILL LOOK MORE SWEE..ROAD HOLDING WILL BE IMPROVED..

Maybe a non-RFTs tyre will solve some of the decibel concerns?

To be honest, RFTs are harder. Why not change to normal tyres? Am sure your ride will be better, unless you are sick of your stock rims. Paying 5k plus for OEM rims with RFTs I feel not worth it.

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

It's not so much the noise, more the ride comfort. Also I agree that 18" will be more swee. I got the M-Aerodynamic package and I feel that 17" looks too small already.

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

The 18" M-Double Spoke rims are not OEMs, they are original from PML hence the $5,507.93 price tag. I had a bad experience with cheong rims last time on my 320i caused the steering wheel to keep oscillating between 70-90 km/h. Very irritating and worse, unsolvable.

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

RFT, is not noisy but not comfortable just so u know

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

I guess at the end of the day, RFTs will be uncomfortable no matter what. Thanks to all bros for replying my query so promptly.

After a bad experience with rims that were not original (not to mention not to specs) I want to get a good set of original BMW rims, which is why at the end of the day I want to know if $5,500 is a reasonable price to pay for 18" M-Double Spoke 184 rims. I have included a picture of the rim in question for all you bros (and gals if any) opinion.

I know that at the end of the day rims and the aesthetic is very subjective, but just want to hear some views. Especially whether or not $5,500 is a fair price for these rims. Thanks.

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

its definitely reasonable, coz of the 30%. dun forget its an ///M rim. i know some will say "so what", but if u check prices of ///M products they always command a premium. its the most expensive range BMW has to offer. some replicas are already costing something like 5k. for 5k+ i think its a fair price.

go fer it dude

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

u can still sell off your 17 in to some interested parties...so GO GO GO for it!

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

Thanks bros for all the support. If you know anyone interested to buy a practically new set of 17" Style 245 V-Spoke Rims with Goodyear RFT, please let me know. Asking for $1,500 only. Less than 2,000 km (so new you can see the paint spots on it). Immaculate condition.

Slater, I think you're right, even replica or OEM M-Style rims with RFTs come around that price, maybe this opportunity is too good to pass up. Probably go down tomorrow to reserve a set.

Re: Considering 18" M-Double Spoke 184 Rims for E60 525i

Was doing some online research and realised that there are a lot of complaints about the Bridgestone RE050 RFTs. Complaints about how quickly they wear out and how stiff the ride is are all over the internet. This may cause me to reconsider the entire experiment. I'm not sure if I can bear a harsher ride than I already have now.

Presume it is $5.5K with tires? Price looks good to me. Personally with $5K, i would rather get other wheels out there. Original not replicas one.

the BIGGEST difference i feel in my car was when i dumped the RFT and switched to non-RFT. You won't regret this.

if u have the M kit or any bodykit, u must have bigger wheels. otherwise car look cartoonish. That is just my opinion..

Just keep a tyre repair kit. no need to worry.
