Re: Confirmed, its a 330cia......thks

Haha.... yes yes....

its a great car.... if its an e46 320i cabrio that i was considering earlier, it would be just happy, but a bit dissapointed on the final drive...

but this is the 330cia coupe... test drove it, the engine and the power was lovely, mainly due to the ex-owner;s wonderful maintanence, v little expense was spared to care for the ride...

will be changing my avatar soon...

thinking of first getting the CSL trunk, and pulleys, and the steel braided brake lines first...

Is currently on 19inch lightweight PRIVAT rims...will be looking to sell and swap to another 19 inch deep dished rims....

any takers?

cheers!! :)

Are you talking about power pulleys? I might be taking mine out. I have a set of Evosport power pulleys, but may go back to stock in the next couple of weeks with the exception of an overdriven waterpump power pulley. Mainly because the power steering is too heavy/ strained when parking up and I have high temp problems (ya ya... only at Sepang!!)

Re: Confirmed, its a 330cia......thks

Hi sidewinder,

remember to change header, down-pipe, exhaust, coil-over, sway-bar and the list goes on man......SC?

Cheers

Ruben also advised me against it in our temps. However, it works pretty well in the continental climates and they DO free up HP, not increase.

Cheers!

Re: Confirmed, its a 330cia......thks

yup, talking about the pulleys (power, lightweight) - same same, but different ;)

apparently, some guys up north have done it and their cars (range from e36 to e60 to both Xs) 'up the lorry' after that.

reasons range from inadequate cooling, underdriving the alternator and power steering, etc. etc.

the gains are there - car revs faster, frees up a few horses, etc. but at what cost?

but then again, they may have bought it from non-approved vendors, who did not put much research into the weight, diameter, etc. just about anyone can cast a new pulley and sell it at a lower cost than the authorised ones.

and omar is right too... weather is vastly different from ours.

somebody in the m'sian forum also gave the technical / engineering reasons behind the failures. go have a read...

Re: Confirmed, its a 330cia......thks

Yup - I have been running with the Evosport power pulley set for about 8 months. I would agree in part with the comments... The alternator is not changed with regards to the pulley size (as I recall). The car runs fine, and the temps are ok if you keep moving in the car, but on idle they do start climbing a lot faster than you'd expect when outside temps are >35'.

The most noticable difference is the power steering which, below 5mph is clearly noticable that it doesn't have the power it needs.

(Sorry to OT your thread Sidewinder)

Anyhow, I'm pretty certain that I am going back to stock and will be over running my water pump. I'm trying to prep the car so I can do longer runs on the track up north.

Once they are off, I'd be happy to loan them out if anyone would like to try them/ buy them off of me (they may work for someone else in their set-up).

BTW ... Sidewinder: will be following your modding activities with interest, any group buys will be considered hehehe

Re: Confirmed, its a 330cia......thks

currently looking for a FL E46 coupe as well.. would prefer to deal with direct seller rather than dealer who do not know the maintenance history of the car.. any bro here selling? :D

saw 2 units of 330CIA over at sgcarmart.. the 2005 model with 36k km mileage looks pretty good.. current paper value is abt $60k.. assuming the car is in good condition what is a reasonable price to offer? E46 coupe really looks good.. :yummie:

Used BMW 330CIA Coupe Car for Sale from Singapore, Motorway Trading - sgCarMart

Re: Confirmed, its a 330cia......thks

Hi EK9,

it loooks pretty cool, i think probably you can bring down to workshop like BVO or J4C just to make sure that the ride is ok.......but the mileage 36k (should be nothing major, probably need to do a oil change for the engine, that's all)

try $95k

happy searching

cheers
