Dear fellow brothers and sisters of BMW SG, i need your professional advice on the below problem.

as we all know, it was raining cats and dogs this evening. after i parked my car i realized that on of my head lights had condensation around the cover. Isn't the headlight supposed to be air tight? I've seen some cars with the same problem. Can anyone advice how do i resolve this? many thanks!

Re: condensation in headlight

If just recent only, you can try to turn on headlights and see whether they'll evaporate. Go for a drive instead of turning on lights and draining battery. If it doesn't work, then you need to remove & clean them.

And reseal them.

Re: condensation in headlight

I have the same issue with you and even my foglight also have. I spoken to the SA in PML and he explained to me that the lights that we have are extremely hot so thats why the design was with so gaps for the heat to disperse. Once the vapours are dry then will be back to normal.

Ok. I had the same problem with my 6er's all LED Adaptive dunno what sai first in Singapore JB and Batam lights as well. KNN, supposed to be best and newest and all that - what PML didn't tell me was that it was leaky as well.

Banged table.

Lamps got changed.

No more fogging. So, don't inhale whatever your SE is trying to smoke you. Not happy, time to bring out the golden lotus dragon slaying king kong Buddha palm and go greet the table with it :)

I really don't understand why PML SA's are like that, keeps giving "CRAP" reasons on problems that obviously requires a full replacement of defective parts.

Still remember my first Hyundai Car many many years ago, headlamp fog, when back KOMOCO. Immediate replacement with no questions asked and no silly smoke thrown.

Now PML, every problem reported seems to require Buddha Palm and Lion Roar. Maybe we should organise a monthly weekend morning group exercise to train our Palms and "Dan Tian", will definitely be useful one of these days.

Re: condensation in headlight

Hi guys! so i went to PML today for servicing. Raise the issue with the headlights. SA told me it's normal for headlight to have some condensation because "xenon headlights are very hot". My response to him is "its funny how i have been driving this car for close to 3 years now and its the first time this has happened. Also, its only 1 side" he laughed and said he doesnt know but all he knows is it happens. he will check if the seal is broken.

On the side note, he also called me (after i left the car at PML), that brake disc are worn out and advice me to change. To my knowledge, i have never heard of brake disc wearing out. Any bros out there can give some professional inputs on this?

Thanks!

Yes, there is a limit to how thin your brake discs can wear out. Need to use a pair of calipers to measure. But still..... you should ask him to get the headlights fixed before anything else.

Re: condensation in headlight

Typical PML. I bring the car in to fix a faulty sensor, they tell me my washer fluid tank needs topping and charges me $13.85 or whatever to do it. KNN CCB garhmen!

Re: condensation in headlight

the headlight condensation is normal...i remember the day I got my F10 i saw condensation in my right headlight and that was 1 year back...since then I have never seen it again except once when it was raining a lot a few days back and both the lights got condensation in them. Since both the lights had it, im guessing its normal, chances of me getting both headlights faulty are very slim. And the condensation disappears withing a few hrs. One issue which is real though are the foglights...almost all the 535i I have seen have permanently misted foglights. Not seen this issue on any 523i or 520i. So much so that the moment I see a F10 with foggy foglights I know it is a 535i and till now I have always been correct haha. Not sure what causes this on the 535i.

replacing parts cost them $$$. most probably management want them to refrain from offeiring FOC stuff
