hi all,

I'm looking at the bmw 1 series convertible.

have done some searches online but have not much detailed infromation on ownership of it as yet.

check the pml website did not have it.

the following are the models:

116i

118i

120i

the 130ci if im not mistaken looks really hot. 3l engine 0 to 100km in 6.1s

im looking at either the 116i or 120i whichever is more value for money. if im not mistaken all models are manual 6spd. im a manual driver and have not much preferance for auto or steptronic.

can we have some inputs on the following:

1. cost of ownership
2. availiabilty - do i need to special indent?
3. launch date
4. any other aesthetic related comments
5. if im not mistaken, the cabriolet version is bmw 2 series?

thank you all in advance.
angus

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

Last heard PML does not seemed to be interested in bringing in this series.. you may have to try the parallel importer.

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

1-series convertible?

Do u mean coupe?

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

I did some research too on 1 series, but not as much probably. there again all this is USa market info which may not apply here. I would try Parallel Importer too for get the 1-er

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

hi know of any parallel importer to reccommend?

reason why im asking this is bec i have never seen a 1 ser in sg before!

i rfemember my fren telling me that it conflicts with the target segment of mini. will it be likely or if threes any news of it coming to sg within the next few years?

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

initally, wanted to get a 318 or 320 cab. however, no offence intended, think that the body is too heavy for the abovementioned. imho, 325 and 330 will be better, but the maintenace is a killer.

so now contemplating the 120i cab.

do revert. thanks once again.

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

IMHO, homologation process for the very first 1 series in singapore will be such a bitch that 99% of parallel importers will not be interested in helping you. and the 1% that may help will charge you a fee so high that it'll be comparable to getting the E90, if not more.

mini no longer under PML so maybe they'll bring in the 1 series in the future; i was at PML Alexandra last week and saw them screening promotional videos of the 1 series in the lounge area.

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

Homologation is just a simple 3 day plus minus inspection affair. Word direct from LTA. PI's do it this way even for cars previously not brought into Singapore.

PML took 2 weeks for my car. and mine's already a homologated chassis with homolgated engine. all that was different was the gearbox...

i was looking for a 2.2L Z4 and was turned away by every single PI except one... and that one quoted a price just 15k short of PML list price for the 2.5L.

maybe things have changed since this was one year ago.

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

hi thanks all for input. if thats teh case will still prob have to continue considering 318ci or 320ci. fine with both actually, just a bit sore abt the heavy body part and slow pick up.

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

Why don't u just check with PML since Louis say's they're prob gonna bring it in anyway.

unfortunately, unless you can afford a larger engine, that's what you're gonna have to live with. you want a light car, you're probably gonna have to look at another marque.

may i suggest the 2.7L tuscani to satisfy your budget sporting ambitions

Re: Comments: BMW 1 series convertible

I have seen an SG plate 1 Series in yellow colour on the road (Plymouth Avenue) before...so well there is 'hope'...
