if you cannot time STI market, at least time COE market to buy low

The savvy consumer should align himself or herself to this cycle which, if you'd notice, makes a full circle once every 10 years.

The next wave - a bigger one - will be in 2015. And by 2016, we should see COE supply reaching tsunami scale. This will be followed by a couple more years of sizeable quotas before supply starts to shrink yet again

Fully agree! Changes in govt policy for transportation can screw up yr future plans.

Well the theory only addresses the supply side of the equation.

All the owners de-registering their 10 yr old cars would be buying new cars -- so the increase in supply would be matched by a similar increase in demand.

The only winners are LTA and car dealers. You can even speculate that the dealers would bid high to get the COEs for their replacement cars...

So my guess is that COE price then would be up, not down.

I think the question is how LTA will revise the vehicle growth rate. 3% drop to the current 1.5% already caused so much panic.

ok 2016, my car 2007, i will have to drive my car 5 more years til scrap to capitalise on this opportunity.pray my car can survive another 5 years.

How come so many people sound so pessimistic about keeping cars for many years? Only in Sg I feel tat my car is "old". I go to so many advanced and rich counties like Japan and Australia and Europe, I think my car feel like machiam new model there
