Coding PITA

One of the painful things about coding - batteries going flat.

Spent 3hours coding last night changing 30-ish features and it went just like that. E.g I did not realize that the 3rd brake light can possibly be coded to strobe during certain braking conditions ..... Anyway, good thing I was not in the middle of a flash write when it happened.

So I am now thinking of getting a 8 step battery charger - slap it on while coding and it gives the battery a spa treatment along the way.

Was thinking of the CTEK chargers - anyone tried those before ?

And pease don't suggest why don't I start the engine and code - did it before. Depending on what you are doing - it might give you a coapi error (translated from Deutsche - data comm is disturbed).

Wow, luckily not in middle of writting...

Re: Coding PITA

The batt charger need to have voltage stabiliser, think any spike is a no no during coding. Normally, I just keep the engine running, so no concern with battery, only item can't code with engine running is obviously engine related. But make sure you keep your car someplace windy, night-time would be great else the temperature with engine idling will really shoot up

Re: Coding PITA

I have a stabilizer just before the battery. Planning to use the terminals under the bonnet to charge. I think the IBS would affect the charging if the charger is connected directly to the battery.

Yup - if a group buy on the charger would make sense why not.
