Re: clicking sound from seat

maybe a screw loose under the seat?
go check with your garage.

dun think so. i checked all the nuts and screws i can see around the seat. even had my wife listen for it while i drive. she say seems to come from right side of seat but can't pin point.

asked pml to check but they keep saying 'sure not from the door?'. then proceed to hand me back car said fixed, but erm, obviously not. waste of time.

actually the driver door rattles too, but only once a while when travelling over very rough ground, so i leave it.

but the click sound is all the time, HAIZ....

was hoping someone had same problem b4 and managed to locate possible source :p

bro, confirm from the driver door..i have that sound too...my machanic fix the problem at little cost...

Every of my previous four 3 series ( e36, 46 ) had annoying clicks and clacks noises, mainly from the front doors. This can usually be minimised, but not completely cured, by applying friction tape betwwen the door and car body.

My present car ( e65 ) is not spared..have to stuff rags and foam between the seats and the plastic seat frame to minimise the noise.

PML is no help...said everything is ok, probably does not think that such 'minor' complaints warrant their efforts. Have to do everything myself.

thanks for the replies. have found the source of the problem.

it is from the seat. there's one screw missing from the right side plastic housing at the base of the seat. so it is very slightly loose but enuff for it to hit against some other parts, causing the clicking sound.

just now went pml to get it fixed, but alas, they dun have the missing screw, so need to wait 2 wks :verysad:

while there, one of the mechanic driving another customer's e65 reversed into my car, causing it to lurch backward. luckily i wasn't standing too near the rear of the car. the mechanic checking on my car lost his balance cos he was half inside the car.

that mechanic still dare to come out and say never hit. :whattheh: if he didn't feel the hit, then why straightaway deny first. :screwedu:

bumper seems ok on outside. i asked the CSA to log into service record, but dunno if he did. really suay.

worse thing is got to go back in another 2 wks again! :errr:

thats typical singaporean kiasi mentality.

he should have just come out, apologised, and ask what can he and PML help to try to fix up your bumper.

usually for me in this case, if the mistake's genuinely unintentional, the guy sincerely apologetic, and the damage minimal, i'll gladly wave it away. but if the guy gets all defensive like his life's in danger, too bad. and i bet the e65 owner's none the wiser.

better check if your bumper really looks ok. Best way to check is to see if the bumper/fender shut lines are consistent. usually the bumper gets skewed but without using the shutlines as an indicator, it's hard to tell.

yup, my tots exactly. all he needs is just apologize, help me do a good check to make sure no damage, and i'll be ok and on my way. at least i wun get even more worked up mar.

or better still, gimme a car wash + wax for free, haha.

i better go check the shut lines during lunch time. just now only check the license plate area, one minor scratch.

he very lucky there's no scratch on the e65 bumper :uhhh:

That's some really scary shit....If they do that in front of you, just imagine what they do behind

Why don't you bring this up to the workshop manager?

If they keep it under wraps, that is as good as a Hit and Run..

You pay a premium to sned the car to PML and they treat it even worse. Another pissing moment...

i count myself lucky in a way - happened to be at the car when the hit occurs, else sure none-the-wiser.

i mentioned to the service advisor and requested him to log into service record in case anything come loose or break in the next few days. he said he will, so hopefully he will.

all this for a screw! (dun get the wrong idea here :laughlik: )
