Hello fellow E39ers,

I am thinking of fitting the above but not sure how it will look.. does anyone have a pic of theirs fitted with it that I can refer to?

Thanks !

Come for Sun's meet. Look for ACBoy's matt finishing type and Arsenal 62's chrome finishing type.... assuming they are coming for the meet.

Mine is the chrome type but I prefer the finishing on Arsenal 62's. And he only paid two-third of my price.

Confimed very nice in either type of finishing as compared to stock, especially in nite-driving.

Thanks. I will be there.

By the way, is yours the same from Eng Soon chrome type? Price around $89.

Got mine thru e-bay 1 year back for $100 and labour $80. BVO can supply chorm type and labour all in for $120. Not sure if they still have stock though.

Not sure how Eng Soon's look like.

Bro, I chose matt finishing over the chrome ones cost its to shiny for me, didn't like the finishing. Bought my thru ebay too. Paid slightly over 100 bux, got it fix at Tropical with foc on labour despite its quite a job to dismantle the dash & assebling for 5sers compare to the e46 which is basically plug & play kind. I'll be popping by with BMworld after our 18 holes. OT abit, apologies for not responding to your pms on the bodykit, darn bz in the office for the past weeks. Just confirmed my exhaust & splitters orders too, plus blacking out the door chrome & black nose grill, swee swee. execept for engine, nothing else to mod liow.

No prob Mac, We talk more this Sun.... end of OT

I got mine from bimmian.com, it is chrome and I DIY-ed the install. It is truely worth doing as it makes the instrument panel so much more interesting.

Dear KT,

Ok, I am zooming to Eng Soon to buy it after I "peeped" into a few E39 over the weekend gathering...

Can you teach me how to DIY-ed the install ? If very cheem, I better send to workshop as I not techie and no tools leh.

Bro, I can assure u it is damn cheem, especially for the e39. The entire instrument cluster gotto take out. When I got mine done, the installer took 3 hrs. After that, he must make sure no dust accumulation some more. Not easy money for them.

Anyway, do your maths lor. I paid $80 labour for mine (not at BVO). So if Eng Soon selling at say at $90 for the rings and BVO charges u $120 for both rings and labour, and can do it in an hour (they must have found a better solution to install), then u decide which is better given your time schedule.

Anyway, enjoy your new mod. (OT abit, were u the chap with the grey e39 at the meet?)

Mine is silver E39, very stock (like chicken stock) with running numbers.... still very shy to approach all the brudders here in forum.

Yours which wan ha? I saw a E39 brack crolour (swee swee with ac kit and rims and black/white roundels)... I salivate a lot...hoping to tio 4D and improve my ride one day.

The black with AC kit is McCoy's. The dark blue with M5 kit is Arsenal 62's. Mine is stock black so u dun have to be shy hor. ;)

My next upgrade (if you can it upgrade) is change the yellow lights to clear white, and if budget allows change to 18inch. Then I will park closer to you guys (otherwise my car looks like antique).

Btw, quick question. Currently running on 245/45/R17 and OBC shows 13.5L/100KM (35% city/65% highway). Wondering if change to 18s, roughly how is mileage like? Understand a lot of variables, but rough idea would be appreciated.

The e39 facelifted lites much more ex compared to those on the 3 series. Shd be around $1.3k for front and rear.

Your tyre size is unusual. If u are running 17", the proper tyre size shd be 235/45/17 and not 245/45/17.

Upsizing to 18" does not necessarily mean higher fuel consumption though generally the case. Much also depends on the type of rims you choose and the tyres u choose. Some rims and tyres are lighter in nature and u won't experience that much weight gain. Admittedly, the e39 looks better on 18".

Since u do so much highway, I wld think u will at most experience slight increase in FC.

Sorry, kinda missed this post.

The DIY is sort of like in the lower-intermediate level, the most difficult part is to take the instrument cluster apart, you definitely need 2 pairs of hand. I had help from another fellow E39 owner and we were able to do it in about 1 hour plus.

If you are not into DIY, I suggest you get workshop to do it.

I think I paid a lot more than I should, didn't know I could purchase the part locally. However, I am pleased with the rings quality from Bimmian, very well done and most importantly it fits very well without having to put glue on.

KT,

These are the exact rings I have. I found them to be not as nice as those that BVO installed on Arsenal 62's ride. Reason being that at the bottom of the big ring, u need another small piece of chrome metal to hold the ring to the instrument panel. So not as swee coz on close scrutiny, can see that small peice of metal. If u have the chance to see Arsenal 62's ride, the metal is non-existent.

Anyway, the DIY looks really cheem to me. Nonethless, this article shd go into our library for those who wanna hands-on.

cc: Admin, can tag this boh? Thanks.

T6, no, that is not what I got .. I was only refering to the procedure to take the instrument apart. Mine is a complete solid ring with fits perfectly to the cluster. :)
