Changing of FOB key's Battery

Dear all,

Just wanna share that for those with non-rechargeable FOBs, ie E9x, you don't have to go back to PML to change the battery. Just pop down to any shops that sells CR-2032 batteries and replace them yourself! Changed from the stock Panasonic CR-2032 battery to a Maxwell CR-2032 battery. Cost me S$2.50!

Just reverse the steps to fix it back. Now I feel that my comfort access is working much better and I do not get the irritating "key is not in car" warning!

Cheers!

Does this apply to all E9x models? My E90 key fob doesn't seem to have a flap for the battery, hence was under the impression it was rechargeable.

I think for cars without comfort access, the batteries are charged everytime the fob is inserted and you are driving the car.

For cars with comfort access, the batteries are NOT rechargeable. They need to be replaced.

Sam, surprise me. My SE told me that I have to plug in the key to charge the battery...:)

After you remove the battery from the fob, will the settings still "remembered"?

Thanks for the information, Delrosa!

No such thing man... Its not rechargeable at all. If u google the battery specs, its a non-rechargeable battery. The settings are still stored in the FOB. I tried it and it still works.

Cheers!
