Changing key fob battery for 2006 E60

Hi ,is battery change on key fob straightforward as just replacing battery or must I program it in ignition?
Can I just swop battery ;model 2032 and just use it? Have not tried yet ,anyone can advise?
Also how far away can I activate remote lock/open/boot open 10 metres?
Mine seems to only activate when next to the car, is that a weak key fob battery?
So many noob questions, thanks in advance.

Change battery just swap the 2032.

Radio frequency used is 315 MHz. A very crowded radio frequency. Interference all over.

If you want - use your head as an antennae to amplify the frequency. Simply put the fob under your chin (must touch) and then press the button. Should be able to get 5 meters at least.

Only for key fobs with comfort access right? I did a search and those without comfort access are using rechargeable batteries that are soldered. Anyone DIY before?

Yes I guess mine is just a battery change for CAS SYS.as it says on fob sticker. was wondering if changing battery gives further range for remote besides putting key near my own head.My previous car could go 20m, this key fob 2 m!

Mine previous was an aftermarket alarm and it could do remote engine start from 500m (that was how far my previous house was to the MSCP). Now, max is 10m if there is direct line of sight.

Anyway RBBro, I only got dirty looks from the ladies when I tried your method... Tsk tsk...

Ehh......you suppose to put the fob under the chin not in the mouth.

If I put the fob in the same pocket as my iphone - even when in the car the fob cannot be detected. The techno term is desense. I have to go quite near the car when near base stations as well. The car will tell you when the battery is weak in the fob.

The wattage for these fobs are quite low for safety reasons (low range). If wattage too high and most guys put the fobs in the pocket it might affect your ........
