changing exhaust tips will it change sound of the car?

i was thinking of doing the mod from single tipped exhaust to twin tip exhaust for the e90 320i prefl.

i was thinking is this mod purely comestic? will doing so also alter the way your car sounds?

any modders who have done this before and found a difference?

Answer is NO. Unless you whack on one of those ghetto type whistling tips which mimic the spooling sound of turbos.
