Hi Guys,

Anyone could advise me when is a good time to change engine oil etc?

1. I got my car 14th Feb

2. Now 2300KM

3. PML said no need to change till 10k

4. If i insist on changing, do i need to pay?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Changing Engine Oil

Yes you need to pay. And you need to pay PML price too.

Just go to BVO or J4C and get it done. Don't bother with PML. Tell them not to reset your countdown indicator and PML won't even know...

Re: Changing Engine Oil

i just reached 2,000km too. But I went back to PML to get engine oil changed. Cost me S$218 w/ GST. S$33 for labour charge, rest for 6.5L of engine oil and oil filter. Service indicator was not reset too!

Cheers!

Re: Changing Engine Oil

for new car... i usually service/change oil at 1000km, then at 5000 km and then every 5000km after that... and everytime the car is in the garage, i ask the mechanic to check the whole car just in case.

wahhh sounds so troublesome :(

Re: Changing Engine Oil

Well, if u wanna wait till ur service indicator comes on, by all means. There is no hard and fast rule on how often you wanna change ur engine oil.

Re: Changing Engine Oil

I used to change my oil every 5000 km, but eventually I was persuaded by knowledgeable people that this is a waste of money. "Necessary for your father's car, nowadays no need!" is what you will hear from service people [not just at PML]. Still I think once a year is the minimum [I only cover about 8000 kms a year, one of the many benefits of not having kids.....]

Re: Changing Engine Oil

I changed mine at 5000km too but yes, PML service agent basically said it's not necessary.
