changing engine oil at 3000km ?

hi bros

am thinking of changing engine oil and filter at 3000km, instead of 25000km recommended by BMW.cause there will be a lot of metal parts in the oil due to new engine breaking in, the the filter may not last to 25000km.

gonna keep the car for 10 years.so the engine must run til 200,000km at least.

so what you guys think ? anyone changed their engine oil before 25000km for their new cars ?

The question is always between cost vs logic. It is of course better to change the oil as often as you can, but this bekons the question of cost. Personally, I would recommend chaning every 5k km.... that's what I do with mine.

However, it is really your call, my opinion is that 3k km is a little too soon.......

The other question is, which kind of oil to change to.....

i meant changing the engine oil for the first 3000km of a new bmw,not subsequent 3000km

changing oil at 5000km is too excessive in my opinon.10000km is more than sufficient.

As I mentioned, its always between cost and logic......

I changed mine at 5k km.... and have been changing at 5k km...... also depends on how you drive....

The N52 engines have had some 'problems' with the engine oil drying up too quickly.... My engine oil showed signs of drying up just under 5k km..... had it changed..... then at 8k+km, the same problem occured. PML then changed my oil at (if i remember correctly) 10k km........

Now at nearly 15k km, its alright.... but I will be changing it soon..... I guess..... so before the 25k km mark, I would have changed my oil 5 times...... vs the one BMW recommends...... Also, with your car, they would have given a bottle of engine oil for you to top up....... did you receive this?

ya got one bottle,they said top up at 2000km mark.very funny.i thought new cars have to go for oil change at 1000km or 2000km ?

i think they want the engine to retire at 100,000km mark.

I changed to that oil at 5k km.......
