was wondering if i do a respray (change of color), will that affect the export value of the car?

Re: Change of color affect export value?

If you are changing colour in order to export, then don't bother. Makes no difference in resale.

If you are changing colour to something you like, and going to drive the car for a couple of years, then worrying about resale, again, just do it. Not going to make huge difference in resale (

emiffy, im contemplating changing of colour and drive for another 3yrs...
but its a tedious process, tearing off everything, and the 10 days downtime...

decisions decisions....

Re: Change of color affect export value?

Well, one of the key questions asked during resale is always whether the car has it's original paintwork on. Reason being a car's original paintwork is said to sit better on the body. As compared to having it sanded down and re sprayed.

Then there's always the doubt that the car was re sprayed cos it's hiding some terrible double vanos bra releasing accident.

10 days vs another 3 yrs that you gonna drive...I did just right that to my previous car which took abt 8 days to repray to my fav saphire black, drove for 2 yrs & export after. As for value, it does affect a little if you change color. In my case, the dealer didn't pay attn to the color stated on the log card & only found out on the day when I handed my car over, it was too late for him to adjust.

Re: Change of color affect export value?

If i'm not wrong if spray to another colour will badly affect the resale price of the body for export. Also be careful not to tamper with the car's structure(Metal) (eg ICE Install).

the last time I sold my e46 to dealer which PML dealed with, they told me that If I change my car color, they would deduct 5k. anyway, for me, it was too late when they found out.
